Red Dead Online World vs Singleplayer World
I can't quite put my finger on it, but the world generally feels like a "downgraded" version of the singleplayer world, no doubt there are numerous aesthetic features they might have disabled or lowered for optimization on RDO, but does anyone else feel this? What could it be exactly? I'm specifically not talking about the story, either.

One way I can absolutely tell there's a difference is that performance in towns, in particular Strawberry, are MUCH better, where I'm getting at least 5 to 10 extra frames. Tesselation is noticeably down in particular, maybe water physics.

I'm certain it's because it's on a server it requires better performance. Where Story you just play off your machine.
GTAO and RDO are soulless multiplayer copies that neither encourage group play nor reward it in any significant way. quests, events, and missions are unoriginal and repetitive. professions are shameless cash grabs and provide only bare minimum of extra content, and all except one (the one that does pays out 100s of times more than the other professions, not joking) barely pay out enough gold/cash to make them worth the $$$ or grind

I run a top end Alienware and literally so almost no difference in the environment or world at all. I mean like none.
I think its just quality of the rig and the internet push.

What I see more or less as an issue for Quality between the two world is lack of unlawful content in two major areas. I cant steal and seel carriages and wagons. (This SHOULD BE IN GAME. Even if the buying price for a Carriage or wagon is very cheap.)
And the inability to rob a train because there are only freight trains on the map in RDO. NO passenger trains... Devs need to put these two functions in.

Imagine playing for the enjoyment instead of virtual currency.

thats what single player is for, in RDO because of a lack of quality content the virtual currencies are what let you gain enjoyment. any worthwhile content (solo or MP) is locked behind a paywall and sometimes even requires you to "buy in" to even attempt.

Rushing to the 'end game' grants you nothing in this game, enjoy it for what it is instead of demanding more. Earning gold/$ isn't hard, if you're not happy now, what makes you think you'll enjoy it later?

They'd better end up with a create your cowboy/cowgirl with voices and customization for single player next time and simply add a few instances for multiplaying events in the regular game. We end up having a nice story and a good offline experience but with a character we may not like and then, online, a poor version of the game with limited features, hackers, griefers with a character we like. Both are frustrating their own ways. There would be a sandbox mode if you finish your campaign.

Glad someone else gets it, RDR 1 was a fantastic game with gang cooperative play, rdr 2 online is just a miserable shell of trying to do that.

Doesn't matter what high end machine you're running, the game world is being run off their own server in RDO and has graphical downgrades that you cannot "beef up" by playing on higher settings. It was like this in GTA 5 online as well.

They've decreased tessellation, particle effects, shadows, shading, water physics, texture quality, volumetrics, NPC count, and god rays.

You're either blind, or you're playing with Temporal AA and can't spot the changes as easily. I knew they had decreased some of the settings, but wasn't sure which. Checked online for a few hours last night and today and figured out most of what they changed in order to keep performance stable for most players.

I run it on a high end PC too. No difference.

Well you're objectively wrong, but that's okay.

Most of it is too subtle to immediately notice, but 1:33 shows it very nicely, where godrays and volumetrics have been downgraded. Following that clip it also shows him wading into water, which in Multiplayer, has slightly lower water physics.

The time of day at the time that I gave was basically the same, since the sun was in the same general position.

Doesn't matter what the weather is, it doesn't magically create more godrays through the trees.

It's a poor effort video. All the way through the weather is different, the camera view is different, the characters look different.
'Uh but it dont matter wot they look like'
Yes it does, for a true comparison, you need consistency. Biggest issue is the weather being totally different.
