Gambler 7 challenge AI programmed to cheat
I'm on my third playthrough of the story, already got 100% and beat all the challenges, so I really have no reason to do these again, but I wanted to prove something to myself about the AI dealers . . .

Most of the gambler challenges are a pain in the ass, but relatively straight-forward, and involve at least a little strategy on your part, which gives you a chance to beat the AI, or at least the impression you can. That wasn't the case with this stupid-ass challenge, and both times I beat the challenge, the AI seemed like it was working overtime to screw the player on this one, so I decided to keep track of every hand and do the math . . .

The goal is to beat the dealer while drawing at least 3 additional cards:

Out of 174 hands I played in Van Horn, the AI dealt me a 10 or face card 152 times, making it as hard as numerically possible to accomplish a 5-card win with what followed in more than 87% of all hands dealt.

As for the remaining 13%, or 22 hands, for my first 2 cards the AI dealt me a 2-card total of 5 or less only 9 times, and it was followed by a 10 or face card all 9 times, again making it as numerically hard as possible to win.

I was dealt an ace as my first card 5 times . . . made blackjack on 4 of those, and was busted within 2 cards on the other, again making it as hard as possible/impossible to use that ace in a low-score hand.

The one time I actually made 19 on five cards, the dealer had a king and a 2 . . . I thought 'finally, got at least one down' . . . then the dealer gave himself a 9 for a very convenient 21. ,

Out of 174 hands, the AI dealt me a 5-card hand totaling below 22 only one time, less than .5% of all hands, then pretty much cheated to beat that . . . That happened a lot in the first 2 playthroughs too, where the dealer would push or outright beat the 5-card hand most times, giving me a true chance to actually win a hand somewhere around .1%

And you only need to win those 3 times to beat this challenge.

If this was the real-life old west, that dealer wouldn't make it out the door . . .

I tried. you are wrong.

Even under your logic, you can get two 9's. 10's dont even need to play a factor. You wasted a whole lot of time on nothing.

It does the same in FFF, first time you can beat it, sometimes even the second time but usually the second or thrid time the computer just magically stop missing.

Call it warmup if you want, i call it cheating.

I'm at the point where i can no longer waste my time on a game that is so heavily scripted, and the way they want you to waste your time with gold medals by playing missions for hours rather than allowing us to save when we want like any good pc game, terrible mechanics that sink the game far away from a GOTY award.

You don't have to do those challenges if you don't like it. It's for people who want them. And then this particular black jack challenge takes like 30min, an hour tops.
