That nonsense aside, only R* can fix their mess and they have no intention of doing that. Exactly the base code same trainers used in GTA Online with scripthook, work in RDO.
They have your money, so they don't care beyond that.
Best advice i can give is don't play Rockstars online games, only single player.
It's more likely they're exploiting the invite a friend system somehow based on what that guy was describing. Knowing R*, I wouldn't be surprised. It'd be even worse too, they'd only need your social account name rather than an unreliable string of numbers. They'd probably know when you're online too, and it would explain why they can pull you in from a single player game as well.
All hypothetical, I've played GTAO enough to know that this online isn't worth it.
