RDR2 only opens in small window, cannot get to full screen

The first time launching the game, played just fine full screen. Then every time after that, just goes to a small window and can't manage to go make it full screen again. It's the ONLY game that is experiencing that problem. Anyone else encounter this and can assist on a fixing it? Thanks in advance!

Alt + Enter should usually do the work for you, switching between the small window and full screen.

Check the system file in documents > rockstar games > rdr2 > settings, if it is set to read-only then changing graphics in game won't do anything

+1 on Alt+ENTER. The good old DOS window/fullscreen toggle. It's been around since at least Win95.

I have tried Alt+Enter and changed the settings, doesn't work...I don't know what the problem is

i think your game is in 'safe mode' tell me, are all the graphics set to the lowest?

Lower your graphic settings. Worked for my brother. Lowered from ultra to high.

it could be the game is "resizing" its resolution to match your native desktop resolution. try finding out what that is, and see if it switches. if it does, i don't know what the problem might be ;( good luck

was having the same issue, i just went to main menu and switched the resolution up it worked.

Yes of course, change the default settings once you reach main menu.
That should be a given with any game.
Set native screen res + borderless window

None of this works on Lenovo Legion laptop with GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card. Tried all of this and plenty of other troubleshooting steps across the web. Help. Would love to run at 1920x1200 full screen for a significantly better frame rate instead of 2560x1600 which is the only way full screen actually works for me right now. :(
