Is that what you're seeing? Like my comment in that thread mentioned, this is simply part of the game. A weird glitch that happens sometimes, on PC as well as consoles. It has mostly occured in Valentine and the Annesburg / Roanoke Ridge areas for me.
- Verify the game files.
- Remove all mod files, if you have any mods installed.
- Go into your Documents > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2 > Settings. Once there, delete any ''sga'' files you see as well as the system.XML file. Deleting that system file will reset your graphics settings, so if you don't have them memorized make sure to take some screenshots of them first for convenience. Once reset, apply the same settings you were using before and check if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, try switching from DX12 to Vulkan to see if the issue also occurs with that API. If that also fails I'd personally try messing with the individual graphics settings themselves, most notably the particle quality settings. I'd also check if the game's resolution seems to be in order, and if it's running in fullscreen.
If that all fails I have a couple of questions. Did you recently install updates of any kind? Be it GPU drivers, regular Windows updates, or did you start using new software that's running in the background while you play? Red Dead can be very fragile and finicky at times, for the weirdest reasons. If you haven't installed any updates recently then I suggest updating your GPU drivers, preferably by doing a clean install, if you're not using the newest version at the moment.
Regarding the issue itself, does it occur immediately when it starts raining? Does it ever show up when it's not actually raining? Can you spot a pattern and what might be triggering it, in case it's not constant?
