however I would like to play the Game in DX12. but every time I switch the API to DX12 I get the Out of memory error.
Is there anything I could try on my end to get it to work in DX12?
Any DX update to manually download. etc. maybe delete some cache files, anything. I'm really not liking Vulkan, game seemed to run smoother for me in DX12, and looked less Blurry with TAA. I get this weird Micro-stutter even tho I'm getting 100+ FPS.
system is 5800x, rtx 3090, 32gb ram, 2TB WD Black M.2 Nvme.
Their solution for me to try is:
force the game to run on power savings mode (runs the application on the GPU that uses the least power, which most of the time is your integrated graphics processor)
and add Borderless and -useMinimumSettings commandline to RDR2.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I disabled Resizable Bar in the Bios. I know this is a new Technology and not alot of people have it enabled since only the Newest GPU's support it, and most need a Bios update, but yea with REBAR disabled I can launch RDR2 in DX12 without issues.
I cannot possibly count how many stuff I have tried from googling this problem, checking reddit, steam forums.
Switched to DX12 and back to Vulkan, even doing forced switch in settings file
Did the run as admin/disable fullscreen optimization/run compatibility from win7
Changing values in Registry Editor for ndu/null and session manager
Used -cpuLoadRebalancing command in launch options
Messing around Nvidia control panel disabling triple buffer,v sync, prefer maximum performance, setting virtual reality pre-rendered frames to 2, limiting fps to 60
Disabling superfetch, disabling windows 10 game mode
Turning off every process that wasn't necessary for system operation and steam/rdr2 in task manager
Setting RDR2 as high priority in task manager
I am sure I have done more things but none of them helped me but I do hope any of these things that I listed can help someone fix this shi-tty problem with the game.
Conclusion ??? This clearly isn't a problem with anyones PC because firstly 90% of the people complaining about this problem played the game just fine without any problems before this latest update and secondly this isn't the first time it happened because I can clearly remember this game had problems like these from release but they managed to fix them and bring them back once again with this new patch .... what a f-ucking joke. Anyways having a more than enough powerful PC to run this game on almost maxed out settings but I prefer to tweak some settings a bit so it's not even at full power or usage, having normal temperatures and perfect cooling, no problems before the latest update but none of that matters because this is a certified game problem. Trying out so many "solutions" for it and none of them worked, each 2 hours of play or less freezes/stutters happen no matter what and only restarting the game can fix it + contacting rockstar support is pointless because loads of other people did it and gained nothing and they cannot advise anything that will help because they need to get their sh-it together and fix this abomination of current game version and make it playable and enjoyable not bring the same automated response and some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ workaround. I would say that I am at least happy I get to enjoy barely 2 hours of playtime per launch but I am not because it's pretty annoying restarting the game and killing my mood after being immersed into this grand masterpiece that I want to enjoy and do 100% for the 2nd time now on PC. I really hope we get some news and update from Rockstar soon because the state they left this game currently is disgusting and pisses into their customers faces so badly ..............
Also sometimes most up to date drivers for gpu aint the best, depending on your specs and none of you actually posted your specs which is funny considering youre looking for help.
specs.
CPU: AMD 5800x
GPU: RTX 3090
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3600mhz CL14 (Dual Rank Sticks)
Storage: 2TB WD Black M.2 NVMe gen4
OS: win10 Fresh Install (changed partition type from MBR to GPT for Resizable BAR)
Mobo: AM4 X570
Drivers all up to date including all the chipset drivers.
I was not having Crashing issues, My issue was the game does not launch using the DX12 API, it fills all 24 GB of Video Memory before even getting to the settings screen and pops an out of memory error. none of this happened when using Vulkan API or my previous 180 hours of play without Resizable BAR in DX12
Anyway I solved my issue and can now launch the game in DX12, the issue was Resizable BAR. I disabled Resizable BAR in bios and am now able to load the game in DX12. RDR2 DX12 does not play well with Resizable BAR in DX12, not sure if Vulkan even support it.
not many people use Resizable BAR since it's a new technology and is only supported on some 30 series GPU's, and in most cases requires a GPU bios update.
As for other people having problems with out of memory errors while playing the game; I don't know, probably a memory leak. and that would most likely by Rockstors Reponsibility to Fix. I might even get this error after some hours of play, but have not had it since disabling ReBAR.
Resizable BAR info:
How does this work? It essentially makes the relationship between the CPU and GPU more efficient by removing the 256MB block read limit. With this cap removed, your system will be able to handle multiple video memory requests simultaneously and prevent a queue from forming.
This is especially important for loading up complex gaming worlds that require lots of GPU memory (VRAM) transfers for the likes of textures, shaders and geometry.
This helped me as well.
Luckily I have a 3090 so rebar is useless for me anyways.
