Can this game potentially damage motherboard ?
Specs
GTX 1650 4gb RAM Ryzen 5-3550H 8GB DDR4 RAM
Asus TuF Gaming Laptop FX705DT

So I was playing RDR2
Suddenly my laptop shutoff without warning
And now it doesn't power on

I got laptop on May 26th thankfully warranty is still on

Edit: gave the laptop to service center for repair
It will take a week
Meanwhile I'm having second thoughts of playing this game again

It's a notebook, known for having really bad head distro. Esp when the user is using it on their bed or their lap and are plugging up the vents. Not to say this is the case, but always be mindful that the notebook has enough air flow. If not the case, sounds like it just crapped out under heavy load, it happens if something was already wrong with the hardware. No different than having to tow H2's down the mountain with my Jeep JK. One would think it could climb a granite mountain, nope. Busted axles everywhere.

I use to use it on a study table for bed previously
Recently started using it with cooler pad and temp dropped around 5c
Everything was normal RDR2 stuttered little bit just before shutting off

WTG on protecting your investment! Sorry to hear it's crapped out. Better get that warranty claim going so you can get back in the action asap.

Dude I have a hp laptop with same specs and now I'm scared :/

Notebooks are often getting too hot, that's why they turn off before something gets damaged. So don't worry. Maybe buy a Cooling Pad for a few €.

then it would seem a little levity is probably something you could use, atm.

but serious, if you were actually gaming on the bed playing rdr2 with any more than low settings while the comforter was getting sucked up your fan intake... if thats not supposed to be funny, then its supposed to be sad? sad that you don't think about the very near future?

I was playing it with cooling pad on
It was mounted on it and had plenty of airflow out
Also cooling pad was effective and reduced temperature 2-4c
Lastly settings was everything low on 1920*1080p
I never had issues with this game
It worked solid in most crowded places
And most serious shootouts

Very few games are made to push the limits of pc's most are designed with the limitations of consoles in mind and thats as far as the developers take it.
Rdr2 is one of the few exceptions when it comes to pushing the limits of a pc's potential.
Unfortunately even though a laptop is marketed for gaming and has good specs to do just that its cooling is not ideal for extended gaming while pushing the limit with all its bells and whistles turned on.
Some user caution is advisable to compensate the cooling limitations of the hardware.
