moonshine role isn’t available

so i got to trader rank 5 and i got the letter in my satchel from cripps abt starting a business but once i read the letter there is no option to start the moonshine role, i know i get buy it from the progress and then roles tab but it doesn’t let me, the quest doesn’t pop up in my map either, i’ve tried about everything, can someone help me ?

i cant help but ive stopped playing after grinding for the roles i finally get the letter for moonshine.i had to go to the old ladys house but once there the audio plays but the characters are not visible only a cane and cripps cigar.once that fininshed nothing.you are sposed to get a map i think and choose a shack.so i stopped playing.

cant recall how i unlocked mine, but found a guide and sound like it was like this i got mine.

":If you don’t have the Trader role, unlocked you will need to get that first. From there you will need to deliver animal skin and meat to Cripps at your camp so he can turn it into goods. This will take some time, so fill him up and go off to do something else for a bit. When the goods are ready to be delivered, bring them to their destination and drop them off. I had to fight off some bandits when I got there so be ready for a fight. After the drop, you will get a letter from Cripps telling you about a Moonshining operation. You can etiher ride up to Maggie at the Emerald Saloon, or enter the pause menu and warp there via the Benefits menu and clicking on Moonshiners. After the cut scene, you will need 25 gold bars to start up a Moonshining shack. Pick a spot and you can then fast travel there. " Hope it help you both out.
You Press L ( on pc ) to get a Manu up scroll down to camps i think it is then pick setup moonshine shack. like you would with a camp.

Wasn't it that you had to meet Cripps in a shop somewhere, I think that's what I had to do.

Since you do meet the requirements to start the Moonshine business you should have a yellow marker at Emerald Ranch. The letter from Cripps you mentioned was regarding the trader role. Maybe try just talking to Cripps at the butcher's table? Or try selling some trader goods, maybe he'll tell you about Maggie then. Shouldn't be necessary but this game is no stranger to bugs.

After you do the opening cutscene with the lady at Emerald Ranch, you then have to purchase a moonshine shack if you want to continue with the role (this is similar to how you buy a bounty hunter license or the butcher table for Trader)

Go to L > Camp and Properties > Moonshine Shack > pick a location and buy it

then you can go to it and begin moonshining

To buy the shack from the menu OP needs to watch the cutscene, I feel like they would have told us if they had already done that. If however OP did in fact already meet Maggie, then Jynn's post is the solution.

The little outpost near Emerald Station.... called Emerald Farm, I think. Go to the bar there, she's in there.

there is an abandoned saloon at Emerald Ranch in the Heartlands. It has 'Saloon' in big letters over it if i remember correctly

Go to the old Saloon in Emerald ranck nearest the train station.. on that back corner.. It should start a cut scene.. Did you talk to cripps after Reading the letter? You should have eit5her read or been told to show 7 fingers to maggie so she wont shoot you than you can go in the old saloon to start moonshiner

i have,nt been able to try jynn,s solution.game keeps crashing.its trying very hard to start,lol.im hoping it fluke starts,we will see.

ok i finally got the game started,i deleted the settings folder from red dead documents.jynns solution works i chose the shack location and i just have to get to it.i chose tall trees and the shack is listed on the map.thank you everyone for the help.happy new year to all.
