Its just like any other game, the slow bits are for the tutorial so you can get idea of the controls for everything
don't expect to complete this on a weekend, it has lots to do, probably 100 hours worth of content its a big map
There is a lot of Horse riding to get places. That doesn't change.
The only way to really speed things up is to push through the main quest as quickly as possible - which still requires lots of horse riding and some side missions, and even an entire chapter, that are rather silly (of no consequence).
For me, most of the enjoyment in this game is from the slow pace and free roam, which sounds like it may not be your cup of tea
Some of the best moments in the game happen around the campfire while you're just sitting there.
No shortage of griefers and cheaters to keep things exciting for you too.
Seriously though, it is kinda slow paced, but I like that. When I find a game I can really get into I don't want to rush through it. But to each, his own.
I spend like 20 to 15% of my time in shootouts. All the rest is spent either on cinematic travels, enjoying a good conversation, playing poker, taking a moment to enjoy the game's beauty, deciding where to go next, grooming my horse, interacting with random strangers, hunting animals and the list goes on...
It's definitely not a game for people who enjoy the Ubisoft formula.
