does the story speed up?
Played at neighbours for about an hour, just the story mode. I found it so slow, no way to skip the endless dialogue, walking around in camp and cant run, takes several minutes of boring horse riding to get anywhere, etc etc

Does it get better?

RDR 2 is very different from GTA 5 or something, its much slower in pace, its designed that way. I would avoid if you're used to faster paced games.

yes it speeds up once you get off the mountain, Free Roam is unlocked on Chapter 2

Its just like any other game, the slow bits are for the tutorial so you can get idea of the controls for everything

don't expect to complete this on a weekend, it has lots to do, probably 100 hours worth of content its a big map

It's one of the best games I've played. The story is very well done with amazing gameplay. That being said, it's a bit slower paced than other games. You can play as fast or slow as you like with regards to exploration and side missions. Horse riding does take a while but you can have it ride somewhere for you and unlock various fast travel methods later.

The pace of the game doesn't change much after Chapter 2.

There is a lot of Horse riding to get places. That doesn't change.

The only way to really speed things up is to push through the main quest as quickly as possible - which still requires lots of horse riding and some side missions, and even an entire chapter, that are rather silly (of no consequence).

For me, most of the enjoyment in this game is from the slow pace and free roam, which sounds like it may not be your cup of tea

Its your own pace past chapter 2. progress or free room is on you.

If you're only an hour in and already trying to skip dialogue and can't stand having to walk while at camp, then the game is clearly not for you. There's no point in playing the story because, well, you're skipping dialogue that informs, characterizes, and progresses the story. And there's no point in running around doing random ♥♥♥♥ because what investment do you have in any of it?

Some of the best moments in the game happen around the campfire while you're just sitting there.

horse rides will always be part of the story and at the start its quite slow but from mid chapter 2-3 you should be able to do things faster, the story takes up to 50-60 hours anyway

Played this game for about 35 hours, forcing myself, trying to get in the game.... but too boring for me, it is really really slow, for me and i repeat it, FOR ME this is one of the most boring game ever, so as sayed above this may not be a game for you, and i can say now that it was not a good game for me !

If you want to travel fast, play online. I guarantee some hacker will eventually teleport you clear across the map before you can say shet.
No shortage of griefers and cheaters to keep things exciting for you too.

Seriously though, it is kinda slow paced, but I like that. When I find a game I can really get into I don't want to rush through it. But to each, his own.

You played story mode 34 minutes than I managed :)

It's extremly slow pace, I am at chapter 4, 41% story completition, and nothing major happened. So far game is 7/10 for me, but the characters are interesting. It's good game, but I am waiting for some good stuf to actually happen.

If you didn't enjoy that it's probably not your game.

I spend like 20 to 15% of my time in shootouts. All the rest is spent either on cinematic travels, enjoying a good conversation, playing poker, taking a moment to enjoy the game's beauty, deciding where to go next, grooming my horse, interacting with random strangers, hunting animals and the list goes on...

It's definitely not a game for people who enjoy the Ubisoft formula.

if ya want a faster paced game then this with near identical graphics and big open world map then Ghost Recon Wildlands is what you want
