Keeping my money safe

I've been doing a bit of treasure hunting and now have 3 gold bars to my name. Having this much money raises some questions. First off where can I see how much money I have, besides in camp and when I am trading.
Now that I have money how do I keep it safe, if I die and I am looted do I lose all of my money. Is there somewhere I can stash it where it won't get stolen.

banks , and private security, never can be too safe, you could invest in stocks or bonds,
now that everyone knows your a rich fat cat i would worry till that gold is in a federally insured bank

Yeah Jpappo the first thing I did was to save it asap, however I was thinking of somewhere more convenient.

Hold b to bring up your satchel. Top right of the screen will show how much money/ gold you have.
Been killed many times and never lost a nugget.

Many thanks mate that's what I was looking for, the only information I could find online was to use the D Pad but I'm using a PC so that didn't help. Ok I'll sleep better tonight lol

If you die in a shootout or fall of a cliff and die your money is usually safe. If your ambushed where you didn’t start the fight you lose some money. If your pickpocketed and don’t catch the thief you will lose that money. Usually if you catch the thief, you will get double back what was taken.

Was getting pick-pocketed for $449 in Saint Denis everytime i went in the tailor and gunsmiths, when i pursued killed and looted him i only got $40 back

So installed the banking mod...this time i go in with $200 and he takes $10 off me
that i can live with!

I think OP is referring to Online? Other players can't steal your money, it is safe. You can see how much money you have by pressing Alt.

"Tap" Alt - shows wealth, Honor, etc.
"Hold" Alt - gives HUD options - I think.

Money:

Online: What money? I get some and spend it. Don't you?

Story: I'm filthy rich - Steelhead and Sockeye are worth $5.34 in St. Denis, I can carry 99 Each and know where they live - about 4 feet from the creekbank. <---that's just one way to make money - there are MANY more.

Tapping the left alt key brings up a bunch of stuff that holding TAB does not show, like money, health, time and temp
