Sound / Audio Issues - Dialogue Too Quiet
Red Dead Redemption 2 on my PC will not play audio correctly. My PC is fine. My speakers are fine. No other games in my library have this problem, only RDR2. No results when changing in-game audio settings. PC volume set at 100%, so even a Windows chime from a USB cord being plugged in is loud enough for the neighbors to hear, but I can't hear Arthur speak to Dutch. WTF. Would love to know if anyone else is having this issue and HOW TO FIX IT.
Początkowo opublikowane przez Jed Clampet:
Right click in the 'speakers' icon (bottom right hand side of desktop), select "Open Volume Mixer", scroll across to find RDR2, raise the volume. You will have to do this every time you load RDR2, because it will set the volume back to 8% again.

I'm going to tell you my strange experience with the sound in this game, if I lower the first bar that comes out the effects, the dialogs are heard very low, if I raise the effects to the maximum the voices already improve and are heard well, the problem is that when I shoot I go deaf because the sound is very strong, but I'm used to it, I tell you this because look if it happens to you, try the effects bar to the maximum and listen to the dialogs, at least this way it is solved for me, I would like to lower the effects sound but if I do it I lose dialogs (sorry my bad english)

If you haven't tried this, check your computers volume mixer. Since the last update I've had to raise red deads volume. For some reason it sets it to the minimum when I launch.

Thank you all for the helpful information!

yes this is working, but you have to reach it while the game is running and Alt+Tab is a mess, sometimes RDR2 or steam is crashing by doing this, is there a solution for this, too? ^^

Try the Windows key, may avert crashes.

They will get SUED for hearing damage ! If you tab out with everything turned up it all their fault due to the last patch. They better fix this asap.

The fix sounds slightly problematic, and I have to agree with Rotax that this should be fixed promptly.

Alt tabbing is annoying as hell, though. I just set my sound so that half volume on my speakers is about right then max them for this game, turn them down when I'm done. Much less hassle.

and what if you forget to turn them down one of the times and get blasted in the ears? Then the much less hassle will turn into ear pain ;p

Then don't forget, I guess. Honestly, I have a couple of times and it's not that bad for the 2 seconds it takes to turn it down. I suppose if I played with headphones, it would be a bigger deal.

I still find it less bothersome than alt-tabbing, 4 or 5 mouse clicks, going back into the game, 7 or 8 more clicks resetting the game to full screen and back every time I play.

On that note, is there a way to prevent the game from resetting to windowed every time I alt tab?

the Windows key is much better than Alt+Tab, thanks for this tip..

Windows key is the short answer, then right click on speaker icon in lower right of task bar. Select Open Volume Mixer and scroll to the right until you find RDR2 settings. Mine is always at around 10%. I drag it up to my normal speaker volume of 62% and I have normal sound. Rockstar tech support told me they are aware of the problem and are working on it.
