Audio crackling?
How do you fix the audio crackling randomly? Happens frequently, doesnt matter if it's during gameplay, cutscenes, just talking or shooting. Couldn't find any solution to it online, only that a lot of people have the same issue and have had for a long time.

I'm really trying to enjoy the game but this is starting to get unbearable.

try to lower sound quality to 24 bit 44100 hz or maybe 12 bit 44100 hz you wont feel any difference in quality but it will surely fix the crackling . have a good day !

what is your system specs? audio crackling ussually happens when your CPU can't keep up with processing the game and audio at same time

Did you bother trying to google your issue? I googled the latest audio issue everyone is dealing with after the last update and came across numerous articles talking about the crackling thing. Not sure if any of the articles gave a solution, though. I don't have that issue so I didn't bother to read any of them.

For me, in linux, setting the audio latency to 60ms fixed it. At least for the minimal time i have tested it. I had severe crackling before so maybe it helps.
I have set it as a launch option but this one wont work on windows so either find a windows equivalent or set the latency in windows before starting the game.

It happens to me too on my 9900K. Tried pretty much everything. Been gaming on PC for 15+ years and this is the first time a game has given me this kind of issue. I don't think the issue is anyone's hardware, something's just funky with the game's audio. Rockstar needs to look into it.

Me too, I have crackling audio only in 2 games: cod warzone and rdr2. No problems in any game, believe me this is nothing wrong with your system, shroud playing rdr2 and he have a crackling audio too, and he have a monster pc.

I think it's related to the Spatial audio you use. I bought Dolby Atmos for Headphones and after I started using that I've had no audio crackling at all.

To everyone in this thread a bug was introduced in a hotfix / patch. I have a paired Z625 logitec system you don't pair these because they are extremely loud I jump in last night because I just got a Evga 3070 rtx FTW Ultra I wanted to test the game out with . My volume at max settings was like 20 % in-game it has never been or sounded like this take it from an audiophile this is a BUG 100% sucks this is what we get for Xmas break thanks Rockstar. I won't forget this. On anything you people touch going forward I will vote with my wallet as of right now i'm not buying anymore of your games you lost a customer with this one, games been broken on and off patch to patch but to end 2020 with this yea never again don't even get me started on your lack of anti-cheat with games you make hundreds of millions of dollars off of. Why I have only played single player in these games for like 7 years now. This was one of the games I wanted to test my new card out with the volume thing ruins it for me to far into this games life cycle for game breaking bugs to be introduced like this i'm sry this is unacceptable. :100:

Yes we do, a tough year for all, including Rockstar staff would need a break too.

Sometimes using the 'Dolby Spacial' settings for your sound card can cause similar to this. Try disabling it maybe, if it doesn't help then re-enable it.

Only solution that is working for me, for now
is a change in frequency;
Task Bar--Sound setting [Right click; Open Sound Setting]
Related Settings--Sound Control Panel
<select> Active playback device [green arrow]--Properties--Advanced
Change Default Format [sample rate & bit depth]
The one that seem to work well for most user in RDR2 is
24 bit, 44100 Hz ( instead of 48000 hz)
( and if you dont use it Voice Chat --Off--)
Hope it helps.

Try to turn off the surround sound option either in sound setting or 3rd party app you use for speaker or headphone. It worked for me
