but yeah, it's likely RDR1 is being remade.
I think they put it in just for the remake so people who havent played the first game get a sense of continuation with john after rdr2. Also the inclusion of rdr1 map is a strong hint.
I've seen posts on reddit, of people that actually thought Rockstar would remake GTA 5 in RDR2's engine as well. I guess you know that turned out...
While the inclusion of RDR map in RDR2 may be interpreted as an intention to remake the first game into RDR2, it might've been just a way to cut down time during development, considering they had to make the northern half from scratch and just tweak, enhance New Austin a bit. Maybe Mexico was planned to be a part of the second game as well, but was left out early on. Only Rockstar knows...
So, I wouldn't hope for something like that. At best they release an enhanced version of the 4k Remaster or whatever they released for Xbox One a couple years ago, and port it to PC as well. A remake, would be cool, but that's a lot of work for a game like Red Dead.
Exactly: snowball's chance in hell.
Unlikely but who knows. One thing is a fact though: they can't port RDR1 to anything, console or PC, until it gets completely remade.
It could be another decade, so i wouldn't hold my breath
It took Rockstar how many years to decide and remake / remaster GTA 3? I would not get my hopes up personally and 2023 is just makes 0 sense.
The last part of rdr2 kind of sets up rdr1, since it takes place after the events of rdr2, which probably was done on purpose from R* to give them some breathing room. But, it was probably also likely done to give players some additional backstory to rdr1.
They'd sell way more copies if they just made another original game. Likely, a new gta is in the works first, but R* has several studios, and some of them make titles independent of the other studios, making it possible for multiple titles to come out around the same time.
Their remastered games are hopefully just to fill in the blank time since gta5 and rdr2. Although...who knows what's going to happen with R* now?
I'd expect gta6 in 2025, and maybe rdr3 in 2027....and that's me being optimistic.
.Or else it would already have happend.
