PANTHERS wont spawn in single player

I've spent around 8 hours farming these things down south. Circled around to the other two possible spawns twice. I haven't seen one damn panther. I've tried saving outside the woods and reloading for hours. I've tried sleeping and checking back for hours. I've tried roaming the woods for hours. I haven't seen one panther? What the ♥♥♥♥ do I do?

Panther is by far the hardest animal to hunt imo, it didn't take me as long as you but It easily took 4 hours to get mine this time, I think I got lucky in my first playthrough. South of Braithwaite Manor is where I found the one I died too and the one I killed. I didn't save and reload at all, just continued to patrol the area and keep a look out, it takes patience. Wearing headphones and turning down music so I could hear animal noises better helped as well.

Thank for the reply. Long as I'm not the only one wandering the woods for hours. I was starting to think my game was bugged or something. Wonder why they decided to make them so rare.

Simple trick, go down to Bolger Glade, just south east of Rhodes, there's that little shack there. hunt them there. But what you can do, is go into the shack, walk int a room inside so that the door closes, this "resets" the map as such, go back out and look around a bit, 1 should spawn. You may have to do the "reset" trick a couple times to get a 3 star panther spawn. I did it 3 times yesterday to get a 3 star.

i know this is going to sound wiseass, but truth? panthers are extraordinarily stealthy creatures, irl you'd never hear them coming til their fangs were fastened to the back of your neck. it does enhance the level of immersion, while being frustrating as all heck. i know i didn' t help, just wanted to throw that little factoid out there

I mostly just watch the minimap for the red dot. Never see it in those woods except for the snakes which are a lot harder to spot than the cougars and panthers I've found elsewhere. I get what you're saying though. Thought perhaps I was missing spawns at first.

Just listen for the purring or the eating sound it makes... if you hear the rawr rawr rawr, it's too late

Sleep at least 72 hours to refresh animal spawns. If you need more panthers sleep again. Btw for easy study use poison arrows.

I tried sleeping 72 hours. I tried sleeping 24 five or 6 times after that. I tried going in and out of that little cabin and waiting for the door to shut a half dozen times. I tried every manner of save scumming. I tried murdering every animal in that stretch of woods for an hour til pig carcasses were raining from the sky. I tried all the baits over and over. I tried making countless laps around the little hill near the rocks at the three way. I tried making laps all the way around that whole forest. I tried running back and forth from rhodes. They just don't spawn there for me. Damn you panthers. I tell myself I'll hunt them in Lakay with the gators, but I know I'll be back.

Edit: I did finally find a panther in Lakay on my third trip there 2 days ago. I updated my post on reddit but forgot to post here. Still pretty butthurt I havent found one in the woods near catfish jackson's, but I'll keep checking. I still need a few more panthers.
