dead eye not working on animals

I'm playing RDR2 on story mode but I cant tag animals in dead eye for some reason. I can tag people (single or multiple) in dead eye manually using the rb button on my controller but it isn't working when I try to tag animals.... instead my dead eye time just runs out. I would like to complete the hunstman activities but this is impossible as I cant kill multiple animals in dead eye. Please help if you can. Thanks

Wich controller are you using and does it happen olso when you on and or off a horse?

Are you using a rifle with a scope? There is no dead-eye marking when your scope is on.

Dead eye isnt working for weapons that have scopes such as carcano rifle or springfield. Any other weapon should. I also was in that situation. Been hunting for squirell, but i couldnt use dead eye but then in the end i realized that the rifle isnt gonna get me perfect pelt. :d so yeah use different weapons. If the animal is such as elks, deers just headshot them from afar or get to them, lasso them and just press f to kill them with knife. Its clean kill so no dmg to pelt. Small animals u can use bow but thats really a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ even if u can aim so u should stick with varmnit rifle. Easy kills with that + u can use deadeye. For big ass animals such as bears one poisoned arrow in the head should do, but thats what i heard i havent tried it myself. I keep forgetting to get the blueprint for it from The Fence you unlock in Chapter 2 i believe near emerald ranch as a part of Hosseas mission.

thanks for your help. I think I put scopes on all my rifles. I will load RDR2 up now and see if i can deadeye animals using my pistols

You can still use the rifles, just don't use the scope. Not certain what button it is on controller, but it's the same one that switches from hip to iron sights.
