Can i do the horse thief mission alone?

I'm enjoying the story, but I thought I'd give online a try. Anyway, I reached the first mission - the horse thief, but it doesn't seem possible to do this on your own? It just gives a 'matchmaker' option.
Is it actually possible to go it alone on these missions, or not?

no, it will group you with randoms

OK thanks, is that the same with all missions, or just this first one?

storyline missions have 2-4, pvp ("showdown") missions have 2-16 players, free roam missions have 1-16, stranger missions and and role missions have 1-4 (your posse only)

The first mission during the tutorial can be done solo. It’ll try to pair you with other players, but if none are available, it’ll start with just you.

Every other story mission requires at least 2 players, with the exception of Moonshiner Missions which can be played solo.

Thanks for the reply. Seems a shame it can't all be attempted solo - Clint Eastwood never needed any backup.

Well, to be fair it is not like her is a real life cowboy. AMC's Hell on Wheels is more realistic until the final seasons. There most people shoot only as long as they have bullets in their cylinders. Most of the time they do not get to reload. And when they do it takes some time.

Yes that Hell on Wheel is very good. I think we've only seen two seasons here in UK so far.
