Garment sets not working

I killed the marble fox got the body and sold it to Gus, still says i didn't give him the pelt same thing happened with a normal 3 star bear pelt still says i still need to get the pelt. So I restarted my game still says I never got the marble fox.

you gave the entire fox or the skin? gus needs the skin, if you sold the entire corps "witch i had no idea you even could do" then no it probably won't work.

You need to skin the legendary animal and sell the pelt for it to count. For the bear, it needs to be a grizzly bear, not a black bear.

Where does it clearly state it lol? I missed the memo too

if you look at all others, they req skin, so its obvious that you need to give gus skins and not a carcas... anyways all this said and thinking hard about it, it is kinda dumb you give that fat gus a corps skin and all, and you can't use the skin of that corps.... it is kinda dumb the more i think about it, bloody R*.

I'm pretty sure last week's Gus benefits page in game (the one about selling the buck carcases to him for extra $) specifically said you won't unlock garment sets by selling a full carcass because those require the pelt. It's not a true tooltip, but it confirms carcases not unlocking garment sets isn't a bug and is intended.

it's the exact same in single player, you gotta actually skin the animal for it to work. If you sell the corpse it's not gonna do it.

To be fair, in single player the skin also teleports to the trapper's inventory if you lose it since there is only 1 of each legendary in the game and they don't respawn. In online, the legendaries respawn and can be obtained multiple times, so it makes sense that they would alter them to promote hunting them more than once.
