CTD First day of owning game.
I just bought the game last night and had it install after I went to bed. I started it up first thing this morning and I can't get past the main menu. I get the sepia loading screen then instant CTD, no error screen, code, nothing. So I decide to check my settings, instant CTD once I hit the settings key. Can somebody tell me what the hell is going on?

I have the latest Windows update, the latest Nvidia driver, I have tried deleting my profile and settings from the document folder, verifying the game file integrity. Nothing seems to help.

Red Dead Redemption 2 game details

Dec 5, 2019: Red Dead Redemption 2 is officially out on the PC! You graphics need to be GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon R9 280 or better to run it. And your CPU has to be at least a Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300 and more horse power gets you more fun.

What are your hardware specs?

Well, that's certainly not a hardware combination that this game would be optimised for. If it's not even getting into settings, than this definitely seems like an issue with you GPU not being supported. I doubt Quadro cards are officially supported with "game-ready" updates, which are essential for this game to even work.

Well I am actually in the middle of a rebuild, what would you recommend as a good hardware combo for this game specifically?

Goto Users\<username>\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings
and delete all SGA files.

Then in the Steam Library:

Right-click on Red Dead Redemption 2
Select Properties
Select Set Launch Options
In the text box, add -ignorepipelinecache
Select OK

...also add -ignorepiplinecache into the R* Launcher's settings.

You might also try launching the game alternatively by going to:

This PC > Local Disk C: (or Data Volume E:) > Program Files (86) > Steam > steamapps > Common > Red Dead Redemption

...scroll down until you find both the "Play RDR2" and "RDR2 icons, right click and run as administrator.

That all depends on the resolution, frame-rate and visual quality you want to play at. I personally game at 4k with high-ultra settings and get around 50-70FPS with my Ryzen 2700x 16GB 3200MHz Ram, Radeon 5700XT Pulse.

I fyou don't mind 1080p or 1440p medium to high settings; any modern CPU with at least 6 cores and multi-threading, 16GB Ram and a decent mid-range card with minimum 6GB VRAM should run this game fine. 4k60 on Ultra settings is a real struggle even on high-end systems, but for that I'd recommend at least 8 cores, 16GB Ram, plus a RTX 2070 or 5700XT GPU. Though, new GPUs are about to hit the market, so it might pay to wait a month or two for price cuts on current gen or see what next gen brings if you're concerned about prices... I would also definitely recommend installing this game to even a cheap SSD, else your load times will be terrible!

Does your CPU support sse4.2? I looked on Intel ark and only saw sse4. If it doesn't I'd be surprised. It seems like it should. My 10-year old Xeon supports sse4.2. but I didn't see it for yours when I looked up the specs and without sse4.2 this game won't load up the map.
You can go to the top of this page and click Help> then System Information. Look at the log and see if sse4.2 is supported. You can also paste it here and we can see your hardware the way Steam see's it.
After looking your GPU it appears to have limited vulkan support 1.0 so not sure if that is a factor, something to keep in mind though.
Another odd thing is you have 12gb ram and 16gb vram. That's actually configured backwards. You want more ram than your GPU has, not the other way around.
Look to see if your CPU has a dual, triple, or quad-channel memory controller. If it's a dual or quad-channel, then your 12gb ram is going to be terribly inefficient because 12gb won't be matching. Triple-channel is ok, though.
Good luck!
