Characters' faces seem ruddy and shiny/plasticky
Compared to the screenshots I've seen online, most of the characters in the game seem to have very ruddy & shiny complexions, like they're made of shiny red plastic.

Is this a setting I can change or something?

It's just the engine, nothing you can do.
Use Dlss instead fsr

The game can do this when it's raining, or have just rained, or when say for example, you as Arthur or John are running around, it will show sweat on your face and also wet bleed-through in a realistic many on some of the clothing items. The real unrealistic part is how ridiculously shiny the Horses can get and how their color can appear to change in certain lighting. A reddish face (looking flushed) can also occur in the hotter areas, or a more of a pale whiting can occur if spending time in the Snow / Cold (below 0-2*C for example)

While it does not apply to NPCs, the player also needs to put together at LEAST 2 outfits (you can switch between them via your Horse); one for Warm weather and one for Cold. If you keep wearing warm clothes in the heat, or wearing light/slim clothes in the cold, your character can have the shakes, bad reaction times, and of course, losing core health over time.

Avoid DLSS and FSR; entire game looks like a old game from 360/PS3 when you use that crap. It CAN be good in some games, this is NOT one of them.

Set Textures = Ultra, regardless of your specs this setting is a must to have set to this. This is only a problem if your GPU has around 3GB or less of VRAM; such as a 1050 2GB or 1060 3GB then set to High. For any 4GB GPU or better, set to Ultra.

The rest of the settings you need to play with and see.

TAA = Medium
FXAA = OFF
MSAA = OFF
TAA Image Sharpening = put this all way to the far left which is 1.00; then press right arrow and count about 30 clicks; this should set it to 2.00

NVIDIA Reflex = On + Boost

Render Scaling = 1.00X (upping this will help the visuals overall, if you are stuck at say 1920x1080 but your GPU can handle more raw performance output)

Be sure to set your OS Desktop to the Native Refresh Rate, such as 120, 144, 165, 240 if you have something above 60Hz. Because this game WILL NOT stay locked into running at Full Screen, it will switch itself to Borderless Window.
