"Lack of privileges" RDR2 crashed at the start
Hi guys. After 30 hours of gameplay (with some problems but at least not permanent like this one) when I try to start the game it crashes with this message "Lack of privileges".

I tried these options:

- checked files integrity;
- uninstalled and reinstalled the game;
- Steam and RDR2 folder in the antivirus exceptions;
- permissions on the private network of the firewall are there;
- updated BIOS, AMD drivers and Windows 10;
- RDR2.exe launched as administrator (but appears the R* launcher window telling me that I don't have the game... indeed it's on Steam);
- eliminated the game setting in the RDR2 folder in the documents;

Please guys, I haven't other solutions.

I have the same issue.
Any solution found?

it is kind of driving me crazy.
never been able to play a single minute of this game.

Are you logged into the correct Rockstar account? You should have the game according to the launcher. That could be the issue.

I can properly see the game in my steam account, I can see the game in the rockstar launcher as well. I can either try to launch it from the Steam app or from the rockstar launcher (I am logged there with the rockstar user that is connected to steam) and in either case I get the very same result. Unable to lauch, and this RDR2.exe lacks of privileges, or something like that.

I am trying to play with folder privileges, but no success so far.

Have you tried launching the .exe directly as admin?

yes, the only result is that I see it alive for a while in the task manager, then it terminates with no action on my side and brings (or launches) the rockstar launcher on the foreground. And that's it. Nothing else happens.

I think I have pretty much tried everything that is on the internet, even playing with the realtek audio driver, downgrading windows 10 from v1909 to v1903, running everything as admin, disable virus protection, logging off and logging-on from almost everything, playing with folder privileges, I spent half a day on this issue, and I paid for it.
Nothing works.
I have 92 minutes of 'playtime' all of it spent watching RDR2.exe crashing even before i could see anything on screen.

This is one of the most frustrating things I've done on a PC, I believe it comes second only to setting up a hackintosh with unsupported hardware.

I would like to help you, but it's a mess... I have seen there are a lot of random problems that have random solutions (sometimes a solution can work, sometimes nope). If I'm not wrong (I don't remember very well), I uninstalled the game (yep, once again) and I ran both Steam and Social R* and Steam as NOT admin. I don't know how or why, but it worked.

But, for example, now I have another problem. When I launch the game, the signal can't "reach" the monitor, wich remains black. I have to press "enter+alt" and then set again full screen in graphic options... I repeat, it's a mess. And I can't understand why R* has released a so bugged game (search it on internet, there are tons of people with similar problems) or how, after all these months, they can't fix it.

try to turn off ransomware protection controlled folder access.

yes, I thought about that, but unfortunately protection controlled folder access has been off all the time.

I've also watched many youtube videos of people having RDR2 start issues, and pretty much 100% of them reach a black screen, and only after that the application crashes. In my case I've never reached the black screen, my application crashes before that.

That's why I thought there might be something preventing RDR2 from even reaching the graphics 'compartment' of the computer. Everything seems to happen before that.

Next step might be to reinstall windows, but I believe it is just meaningless as I am using a pretty much clean install done 1 week ago.

I don't believe it is matter of PC specs, but just in case:
i7 4770K
Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H
16Gb Ram
gpu Radeon RX 5700 XT OC 8GB

Win 10 pro 64bit up to date (1909 latest build)

I solved too disabling Intel HD Graphics.

START > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Display Adapters. Right click on the listed display (common is the intel integrated graphics accelerator) and select DISABLE.

thanks Johnnyzk,
I forgot to post it here, but that's exactly the solution that worked for me too.

most error messages were pretty misleading

Yep, I uninstalled every single trace of the game, so I had to redownload everything
