I can’t shoot nests from trees.
I see the yellow markings, but often I don’t see the nest. Is there a simple way to do this? I shoot at the markings, but no luck.

Heard if you bring out your hunt wagon you can use that to get closer to the nest.

You have to shoot the nest. Move around the tree until you can see it. Sometimes it's on a lower branch. I haven't seen it since the naturalist update but sometimes the nest doesn't spawn and the egg will just be floating in air. Sometimes you can shoot the egg and it will fall and sometimes not. If there's no nest you can ride away and come back and the nest will respawn. Figure 500-1000 yards to reset. That works 100% of the time or thereabouts so if it doesn't reappear you didn't ride far enough away. But hit the nest. Close gets you no cigar.

Bounty wagon.
The hunting wagon has no roof.

And yes, for certain trees you can drive close, climb on the roof and pick the egg out of the nest.

OP - Sometimes there's a yellow marking but the nest has been destroyed by someone else, change lobby may fix it, depending how many incompetent nest shooters are online.

Shoot the side of the nest.

I think this particular nest is bugged. I now see the nest, but
Shooting it from head on or from the side makes it disappear, but the egg is still in the tree, floating above the branche. I shot the egg many times, but it just stays there. It is an egret egg close to the B of Blue Water, in a dead tree.

I saw an afk player near that tree (probably googling 'stupid egg') and no nest. I changed lobby, shot the nest, same issue, no nest, no egg.

Some nests are bugged. Found that out at a particular location via huge Reddit thread

That bug has been around for some time now with certain nests.

The way the bird eggs work is you start with an nonphysical image of an egg and a nest that is an activator. You shoot the nest it goes poof and switches out the egg for an actual world object egg. The egg rolls off the branch and falls to the ground and you pick it up. Sometimes the activator (the nest) works correctly but the physics on the world object (the egg) wonks out and the egg doesn't roll off. That's an egg you can grab if you can reach it somehow or just shoot it down. Sometimes the activator malfunctions and doesn't switch out the egg, so you can't shoot it because there's not a physical object there. Sometimes the activator fails to spawn at all so there's an egg but nothing to interact with in order to activate the world object. It's the same as a malfunction. If there's an egg and you can't shoot it down, you can't pick it up either. Move away to reset the cell and try again. I haven't collected a ton since the update but every egg I've encountered has worked. That particular egg you're describing can be collected.
