RX 590 Crash only when playing RDR2
Hello. I haven't played RDR2 in months now and I decided to give it a go. I started story mode from scratch, and lo and behold, my graphics card crashed. I tried reducing power consumption (which helped a few months back), updated the latest drivers, even made a custom profile. Does anyone else have this issue with RX 590 or similar? What are your experiences?
P.S. as I mentioned, I had this issue before, but reducing power consumption actually worked then and unfortunately it doesn't work now.
P.S. 2: this issue only occurs in RDR2.

Are you getting the Gfx_Err error? If so delete the SGA files in Documents, Rockstar games, RDR2, Settings.

If you play with DX12 switch to Vulkan. And if this doesnt help just delete the Graphic Save Data ( if you dont know the Place where to find it, it will be deleted automaticly if you switch between DX12 and Vulkan)

No, no errors. When the graphics reaches 70-73 degrees, let's say, it shuts itself down. It's the XFX's 590, it has the worst cooling of the all 590 series. I will try undervolting it a bit and see if it helps.

It is already on Vulkan. Mind you, this only occurs when playing RDR2, but as I replied to the previous comment, it's the XFX590 problem, it has the worst cooling from the entire 590 family. I will try undervolting the graphics a bit and see whether it helps.

I wouldn't touch the volts, rather up the power slider to max in Adrenaline software.

I have an RX 570, overcolcked as best I could.... but even if you do not overclock, then up the power, your card will only use it when it needs it, even on default settings otherwise.

PS: But, many people are having issues, since last update, it may not be your hardware. Read some of the other threads, maybe you'll find a solution there. Repeat: it may not be your hardware!

EDIT: I decided to go ahead and undervolt the graphics by a tiny bit, and surprisingly, it worked?? I didn't touch the ingame settings (mix of high and ultra settings), turned fps cap in the Control Panel to 60, played it and it didn't crash. Furthermore, I reduced from the default 1580MHz @ 1150mV to 1120mV. Didn't notice any fps drops and I managed to reduce the graphics temperature (from 70+ to 60-67, I might even drop it even further if I increase fan speed) and wattage (from 170-180 to whooping 120-150W).

im sure its not your hardware, try to switch to dx12, restart the game, try it with dx12, if it doesnt work change back to vulkan. everytime you switch the graphic settings will reset. try to play with default settings. and maybe try it without FXAA, it seems to be broken after the update for some cards

What brand is it? I have the Gigabyte RX 570.... I swear by Gigabyte, MB's and GPU's, I haven't used another brand in... I think 20 years. Never a failure, always so well built, worth every cent (dollar).

Undervolting is the way to go with RX5xx. You may safely do 80-100mV undervolt and 100Mhz VRAM underclock.
