the reason is probably you did it to fast! R* logic the faster you do a mission the less rewards you get! i know weird logic but its true

You don't get more gold. You get more cash. If you want to understand how bounty hunter payouts work, then read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadOnline/comments/e4mwj9/bounty_hunter_payouts_and_tips/

WTF wait a sec

So if you take LONGER to deliver a bounty you get more Cash and Gold?

And opening the catalog prevents you from being kicked due to inactivity?

Yep. It's completely backwards. It's clearly designed to try to limit how quickly you can rack up gold rather than to actually reward players for doing a good job. And stranger missions use the same payout system for gold. So, if you're just doing it for the gold, doing a bounty instead of a stranger mission doesn't buy you anything other than it being a different type of mission.

Ultimately though, you do far better getting gold via daily challenges than anything else.

So, in general, I'd say that the primary reason to do bounty missions once you've hit bounty hunter rank 20 is simply because you like doing bounty missions, not because the rewards are good (since they aren't).

What is the best one for getting gold then? besides daily missions I don't like doing all of them due to having to do PVP I like PVE

you don't have to do them all, just do one a day, once you have a streak of 3 weeks then you get 0.5 gold bar PER mission. if you unlock some roles then they have dailys too.. in short i have all roles and have around 22 challange missions so if i do them all that's 22 * 0.5 GB, plus 2 * 1.5gb extra for doing them all. but you don't have to do them all, one a day is ok to get a streak. do the missions you like and that's it.

I suggest that you read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadOnline/comments/casp8b/red_dead_online_player_guide_money_making/

In general though, by far the best way to make it gold is by doing daily challenges and building up a streak where you do at least one daily challenge every day. By the time, your streak is 21+ days long, you're getting 0.5 gold bars per challenge.

Most other regular activities are pretty terrible for getting gold. No role is good for gold. Their activities mainly get you cash. Bounty hunter is the only one that gets you gold, and it gets the same amount per mission as you get from stranger missions, so it doesn't really make it easier to make gold except for the fact that you then have more options for missions that get you gold. And the gold payout isn't great. Various free roam events will also get you gold (some better than others), but the payout is usually worse that bounty or stranger missions.

You also get a 0.4 gold any time that you reset an award. You can't reset them all, and those that you can reset can only be reset 10 times, but you it does result in some gold from time to time and is a good reason to pay attention to the awards even though the buckles all look terrible.

Really, the only activity other than daily challenges that can gets you good gold is treasure maps, since they usually get you around 1 gold bar, but there isn't a great way to get those quickly or regularly (especially at lower ranks). Once you hit rank 100, since you don't have anything to unlock anymore, you get one every 5 ranks IIRC, and you can sometimes find treasure seekers to steal maps from or find them when looting bodies, but you can't really set out to go collect a bunch of treasure maps to get gold (though you can use the only map done by the same guys who do the collector map to see where treasure seekers may pop up). So, it's mostly just a nice boost when you get one.

So, if you were playing purely to try to build up your gold count, you'd probably do every daily challenge that you could, do bounty hunting and stranger missions, and play at least some of the free roam events.

Actually, the most that you can do in a day is now 16. I guess that Rockstar didn't want the amount of gold that you could get from daily challenges to keep going up as they added more roles. You can still do the 7 general challenges and get a bonus if you do them all (and of course, they still tend to contain at least one challenge that involves PvP or posses or something else that's a pain to do), but while there are 3 challenges per role, you can now only do 9 of them per day. Once you've hit the ninth one, the other role-based challenges all get locked. Either way, you still need to just do one of the 22 available challenges to keep your streak going.

yea i would not know that, i never did them all, i do what i like and that's it, i just assumed you could do them all because there in the list. ohwell i knew R* was going to nerf the gold gain somehow, now i know how lol.

Well, I found out because they listed it in the patch notes, though I think that I've managed to hit the limit on role-based challenges one day since the Naturalist update. However, it's the sort of thing that's probably only going to happen if I play most of the day. It's usually not hard to do a few challenges quickly, because some of them are easy, but doing a lot of them starts getting time consuming, since once they're not quick and easy, the time it takes to do them starts adding up fast. Still, as the number of roles increases, the odds of completing 9 role-based challenges in a day are going to go up simply because there will be more easy ones to do, and if they hadn't put a limit on it, the number of challenges that your average player would complete every day would just keep going up as they added roles.

I've only done all of the general challenges in a day something like two or three times since buying the game in December though, since they almost always have at least one challenge that I can't do, and even in the case where I could do them all, it's usually too time-consuming. So, it's been very rare that I've gotten the bonus for completing them all.

Regardless, I still don't understand how Rockstar expects to make money off of RDO like they apparently do off GTA Online. There's some incentive to buy gold up front to jump start things, but if you play at all regularly, it's pretty easy to have the gold for new outlaw passes and roles without buying any. And aside from that, the only stuff that requires gold is some stray clothes and a horse or two. I don't see why anyone would buy much gold from Rockstar unless they played so infrequently that it was the only way that they were going to have the gold for a new role when it came out. I would think that Rockstar would need to be putting out a new role closer to every month if they wanted many players to actually be buying gold from them.

well in time "take my word for it" they will add more expensive stuff, to drain people's gold reserve. they will trow so many items at us at redicules goldbar prize you would not believe your eye's. this is how it whent in gtao at the start all was verywel doable but the more "dlcs" they released the more money one had to pay to get it all.
limiting the gold gain is there step one for sure! the new items they released now some have a 12 goldbar prizetag seriously, the new trapper is added to drain the dollar amount people has, 775 - 1k dollar for a coat seriously ledgendary or not 1K dollar for a COAT!
don't you see a patern here, cus i do. and it sad but this game next year totally f-ed up by R* greed mark my words.
