Graphics Settings Not Saving
So since the new update i cant play because my Graphics Settings wont save and my default output adapter does not have enough memory to play the game, so everytime i change output adapter to 1 it will make me restart unlike before the update and it wont save after restart using the default one again, i tried to erase Documents\Rockstar Games folder since i saw some people saying it was a solution but it wont work for me.
pls halp me sad face :steamsad:

You can change the settings by editing game's system.xml file using Notepad. File is located at Documents > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2 > Settings > system.xml for me.

so ti tried change the system.xml and it works for resolution, texture quality and all that but the only thing that wont stay is the output adapter, every time i start the game it changes the 1 i put to 0 again

Try this....

You could try deleting the system.xml file (or cut and paste it to another folder). When you load the game again, the game will create a NEW Settings.xml file itself, with all default graphics settings. Some have tried this and it worked for them. Continue using default graphics settings without changing anything.

C:\Users\Username\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings

It's a laptop setting basically it specifies if you wanna use the iGPU or the main gpu. So OP shouldn't even touch this setting unless he has a laptop.

Um yeh, not a good idea if you don't know what your doing... and especially just because you "saw some people saying".... re-install the game.

same problem as the OP. running on laptop with two gpus, only the shi#+*tty one is used by rdr2. sometimes its possible to change the output adapter to 1 and see the full potential of the better gpu but then rdr2 has to be re-started and its the bummer gpu again on channel 0. tried everything mentioned here. nothing works for me. disabling the weaker gpu leads to weirdly unresponsive behaviour of rdr2. any other ideas? really need help...

I fixed it. (I hope it you can try this and works )
1. open the game , go to - settings - graphic settings - change the settings you want it.
2. Apply and restart the game (if the settings require a restart).
3. exit the game then open my document folder - rockstar game - RDR2 - Settings, and select the file named Setting.xml
4. open the file and make sure the graphics settings are the same as the settings that have been applied in the previous game. (if you want fullscreen mode, scroll down and look for "windowed value" change the number to 0)
5. make sure to save the settings (ctrl+S) then close. and right click on setting.xml file - properties - TICK READ ONLY (in my case Read only unchecked).
6. try to open the game (if not Fullscreen you can change to graphics settings in the game menu)
I think the game has an Auto detection spec (in my case the game resets the graphics settings to recommended)
I hope this helps.
