Why would you buy RDR2 on Steam instead of EPIC?

I am just curious as I have stopped buying most of my games on Steam and I buy from EPIC if I could. Reasons are as follows

1) I save money because EPIC charges developers a fair price for using their store

2) Developers Save money because EPIC charges them a fair price for using their store

3) Steam has blatantly ripped off developers to build their empire with enormous cut from the profits of their games and actually caused some companies to go bankrupt preventing us from even getting a sequel.

4) Steam is a monopoly and has gradually shown they are willing to take full advantage of that

5) Steam has conspired with Bethesda to charge people for Mods in Skyrim years ago and when people spoke out against it, Valve Employees outright banned the posting rights of those users on the entire Steam Platform.

I got RDR2 for $26 on Epic last week and I got GTAV Free aswell as World War Z Free.

EPIC games helps developers create Cross Platform Play, World War Z for example has cross play among PC and XBOX and soon it's coming to PS4.

EPIC is actively trying to make Cross Play the norm which would have the single largest impact on Fighting Games since Fighting Games die very quickly on PC Platform. They havee gone out of their way to solve the single biggest issue regarding Cross Play between Console and PC which is devs not having the money or resources to implement servers for Cross Play, EPIC is standing the cost of such a service.

You may dislike this post, however after researching and keeping a close eye on EPIC and how they have used that Fortnite money to actively benefit Gamers across the board my decision to support EPIC was an easy one.

you cant downgrade the game on epic, you cant play offline on epic. Those are the things for me, since i travel lot

Then perhaps whatever is telling you that you should disown it?

EPIC is the only company trying to make Cross Play between Console and PC a reality and if you play any game that is largely dead on PC like literally ANY fighting game among many others you will realize how important the work EPIC is doing?

I own a lot of games on steam look at my profile, I would never buy it on Steam if I could get it on EPIC especially if it is from a struggling developer who needs the money.

I would however buy an EA or Activision Title on Steam as I think they are pure Scum, but even then I avoid buying EA and Activision title on the whole.

That is a fair point, however EPIC store provides a refund.

Steam's cut or as you pointed out the "King's cut" is exactly the reason why companies are abandoning Steam. Unless you want to wait 5 years or so to get titles like EA back on Steam but Escape from Tarkov is never coming to Steam precisely becaue of the King's cut.

I am actually happy we have other alternatives, now I can support EPIC based on moral grounds

Thus far my decision is paying off, World War Z gets cross play with PC on every Console and it's also happening for next gen fighting games thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and EPIC's new policy of Free Cross Play servers for UE5 Games.

Epic providing games free is nice, but about the only thing they are really doing well currently. The epic launcher for all the features that it doesn't have still runs kind of odd. Not bad, just odd. (Only a few people actually have issues with it interfering with other processes)

Epic has payed for exclusives in an effort to bring in a lot of people quickly because they need it, but it also sort of cuts off the supposed cross play you claim they are working towards. PC exclusive on epic but crossplay with consoles makes me suspect that they are greedy and want their monopoly on the pc market. Because of the efforts they put into things like that, I wonder if they are going to keep up with what they do or if they will eventually change up and take advantage of their users.

Steam does charge a lot more than they should. I do want steam to reduce the cut they receive and provide better options for the developers, but I do not believe that epic is sticking to a low cut for the benefit of the developers. They are making their money in other ways.

Epic isn't bad, but they really aren't making good progress on the features that are well established on steam. Steam also isn't bad but has let some features get overused and abused and need to improve things.

Basically either platform is a choice. Neither of them is particularly better. And more importantly steam has not blatantly ripped off developers, and Epic is not providing the better developer deal out of altruism. They are both looking for profit without effort.

If Epic invested that money they waste on buying exclusivity rights into improving their own platform then I might give them a look. As it stands as long as they are buying exclusivity rights, they will see no business from me. Just take a look at all the people that have to come here to discuss epic games because epic doesn't even have their own forums.

Both have DRM which sucks but only one has 90% of the rset of my titles, forums for me to type on and mates all set up the way i like it.
Easy choice for me really but was given as a gift on steam so .....steam it is.

F knows why ppl feel the need to pimp epic on steam go and play on epic store or better yet play a game on either store!.

Nah the Free Cross Play is not an EPIC games Store thing.

Free Cross Play is a Unreal Engine 5 thing so the game gets Free Cross Play regardless of if it's steam or anything else so long as it's using UE5 which again is also Free.

This is an incredibly important step for PC Gaming, something Valve never cared about and never will because Valve is actually very Anti PC Gaming, contrary to what people actually believe.

EPIC is putting an ENORMOUS amount of Effort and Money to make Cross Play the Norm, nobody else is doing that. It is reason enough for me to support them over Steam

I just hope Marvel vs Capcom 4 has Cross play and also Injustice 3

Steam's not going anywhere. Competition is good for everyone (except maybe Steam). Monopolies are bad for everyone except the monopoly holder (see Amazon). I bought it from Rockstar so I don't have to run an extra client. I try to do the same with Ubisoft games, too, but I generally go with wherever it's cheapest when I want to buy it. I bought Samurai Shodown from Epic which was my first purchase on that platform. Bought the game for 10 bucks off and got another coupon. Bought the character pass 1 for ten bucks off and got another coupon. Bought the character pass 2 for 10 bucks off and got another coupon. Will buy Horizon this month for ten bucks off, too. Steam ain't king; money is.

I have bought some games to steam and i prefer that because if one game is removed you can still play it because is saved on steam. On epic idk what is happen.

EGS is missing a lot of social features TBH. Things like a social hub, achievements, heck even uploading your own pics to your profile.

Epic is collecting a huge amount of Data, sniffing everywhere.. and the price of games and giving away popular AAA / AA / A Games wont last forever, every Dollar they are making rn is to fight Steam and grab some Users. They cannot make much Profit and this is the only thing companies are interested in
