Why do repeaters suck so bad?
I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or what, but repeaters seem so innaccurate and useless against rifle users.

I have the litchfield and the evans, both fully modded out, and use express with both. But they're so innacurate that I don't use either for hunting, and I barely use them for fighting pve. They took way too long to re-focus after a shot as well.

So what am I doing wrong?

The Lancaster Repeater's good, with the better ammo. When you get killed, from the still picture of the killer you can see what weapon they used, I bought the guns they used most often.

And, aiming/focus mode reloads slower then no aiming/focus mode.

And clean them, either yourself (with gun oil) or go to the gun shop and pay for cleaning... over time guns degrade as when they were new or just cleaned.

I have read that the Lancaster (Winchester) is the best repeater and that the Litchfield (Henry) is not very accurate although has more damage. I have taken to carrying a more "modern" kit most of the time and use the bolt action rifle in the slot I had for my repeater.

The Litchfield used to be pretty good but a while back they made some changes and it's just an inaccurate pile of ♥♥♥♥.

Use the lancaster. It's the best repeater by far. Evans is too weak, litchfield is too inaccurate, and the carbine is just a pile of ♥♥♥♥. With the lancaster you can take on anyone and everything. It's fast, accurate, deals decent damage, and it just looks the best IMO. The lancaster is supposed to be the upgraded model, or "big brother", of the litchfield in real life too so.

I agree about the Lancaster (did a comparison in the Journal). I use the Rolling Block Rifle, I think it does more damage (something I look for). Just got a Pump-Action Shotgun too. If you flick pages back and forth in the Journal, you can compare the effectiveness and stats of each weapon.

Ammo: as you climb you get access to better ammo, from Regular to Express, etc.

Lancaster repeat is accurate and deals great damage, landing headshots on players can often get you 1 hit kills with it when using the better ammo such as express ammo. Has decent range aswell and is my definite weapon of choice, I often use it along with a pump action for my 2 back weapons.

I do like the carbine repeater with express ammo I must admit. The Lancaster is good, but it's reload is quite long and cumbersome and I think it's fire rate is a little slower than the other repeaters.

Repeaters have the reputation of being difficult to use against multiple targets. When you stop to reload, you have to change targets, whereas semi auto weapons allow you to keep firing without having to readjust your aim, making fast firing possible.

Cause they the worst guns in game.

What's funny is when I was a straight up newb in this game, I made the mistake of reading a RDR2 guide site prior to purchase which recommended repeaters. After getting another gun you really see the difference. It was pretty obvious the author of that site probably played RDR2 for 5 minutes if that. I won't link the site cause he'll get free traffic to his crappy rdr2 web page, lol

Eh?

You're all chumps for using long arms. All you need is a revolver. Any kind! Even the Cattleman.
One gun to get the job done!!!!1

As someone who has put hundreds of hours on this game between PC and PS4, the truth of the matter is it doesnt matter what gun you use. Ive tried every repeater they have and have found good success with all of them. The trick is to figure out the reticle and aim for the head. I will admit i prefer the Lancaster. I enjoyed the evans for the capacity. but if you pick one and use it a lot the accuracy will increase. but ultimately it doesnt matter what gun you pick. play to your style. I use the LeMat revolver with a Lancaster repeater and swap between bow, shotgun, varmit, and sniper for second longarm. Truth is when it comes to PVP the Varmit Rifle has always been the way to go. The most accurate and a headshot is still a headshot.

its called using a scope, i annihilate npc with scoped headshots on the landcaster because scopes = no bloom and that means infinite accuracy.

I can't remember off the top of my head which animals but a repeater is needed to 3-star certain animals in story mode at least. I never found them to be especially ineffective against either npc or human players. All guns have an artificial dead period where if you follow-up too fast you'll miss no matter what.

Lever action shotgun with shells and Pump Shotgun with slugs. Win the West
