Completed sets pay more, on average you will get 2x the amount for a set, than if you sold them individually. But theres no point having many items with x3+ as the amount of time and randomness of the finds means you are liable to get to x9 on a certain item before being able to sell it as a set. Unless of course, you follow a map and specifically go hunt an entire set at once.
