Why is this Game not so popular?
Gta has 150k players and RDR2 is far better then GTA but only has 15k... Is this Game dead?

GTAO is the reason. RDO still has a lot of bugs and hackers. Rockstar is slowly issuing patches.

Story mode is perfect and brilliant . Its the Online that is causing so much hate.

Because money, if they created solo sessions for online, people would be less enticed to buy gold bars to look like another player, honestly they should just add battl-eye to the online servers. It would fix all the hackers without the need to change anything

Hackers are the primary reason. People try the game, they play the game for a few months and get tired of the hackers and griefers. They are sitting on a gold mine, but somehow they think it is fun for players to be on the recieving end of griefers destroying your wagons and hackers toying with you like a rag doll.

Everyone I used to hang out with in this game has quit and I hardly ever play anymore. If Rockstar can't provide a quality game without hackers and without the ability to prevent griefers from griefing, then Rockstar will never see the potential this online version of the game has. At least not from me or anyone else that I know.

Many reasons.

- lack of content / repetitive content and nothing to spend your money and gold on
- Western genre is not that popular
- numerous bugs, instability, and hackers / modders
- not enough incentive to play with friends, most roles are made for solo play

Rockstar will probably leave the game in this state until the next gen consoles come out, then they might rerelease it and add heists or something. Who knows.

When RDO becomes better and more fun than GTAO then it will have more players, also GTA was on discount more often, and right now costs less than RDR2 on steam

People were probably saying the exact same things about GTAV back in the day.

I don't even understand why GTAO is popular. So I can't answer that.

because the game was out on SC and Epic for a while then released on Steam

Probably more popular on consoles...as most there are on voice.

The UI for online doesn't even use chat text which the more casual PC user prefers so there is little to no social aspects to this game when it comes to random encounters with other players.

Emote function is there but it's a clunky interface where you are required to unequip your weapon and perform 2 extra tasks just to get into your emote list.
