[Solved] Game won't launch anymore

After 180hours playing this game it decided to stop working today. On steam it says the game is running but never actually opens!
I've updated my driver, updated windows, reinstalled Social Club and all .exe are running as adming as well just in case. (They weren't before this)

I really don't know what to do anymore.

so I've found a solution!

Launch the game and wait to get stuck there
open task manager and kill Social Club, close everything related to it BUT NOT steam.
Wait until steam stops "Running the game" and then hit play again.

Mine downloaded some social club stuff, reopened it and the game launched.

I am having the same issue. My guess is that this is related to the Windows 10 update that went out in the last 24 hours. I guess it was addressing security concerns and included a ton of changes per the referenced article... seems a likely culprit. I am putting in a ticket with Rockstar Games and I will share any new information.

Not sure if it's related because my game stopped working before I told my W10 to update. I played in the morning but quitted for lunch and I think Social Club had a small update, not sure, then it's stopped after that

There was a game update as well withing the last two days, I had played online after that update hence my assumption that it is Win 10 related (for me).

There are some threads related to issues specifically after the game update. I would look at one of those (from a cursory glance at those threads the issues seem to be AMD Graphics and HDR related)

oh yes, I played after the game update and it was fine...
It literally happened out of nowhere today and I don't have AMD Graphics so...yeah...

Well.... hopefully the ticket I put in will yield a solution. Otherwise its more of the same for my experience with this game on PC. Terrible port...

So I tried verifying game files in steam. It did not find any issues but upon relaunching the game steam started downloading some rockstar online stuff and now I can connect to online play.

I would give that a try.

Hi, same problem here, game don´t start, ( after and before the last update the windows 10 ) " On steam it says the game is running but never actually opens! " That´s true ... ( Today install for second time the game I do verification of integrity files 108 gigas. Reinstall Rockstars game launcher to I´m glad not hapend only me and it´s a general problem, My Specs i7 3930k Geforce Gtx 1060 3 gb, 16 gb ram I play the game over 90 hours 2 weeks ago with out any issues

I would suggest submitting a ticket as I have already responded to my own that I have resolved my issue by verifying integrity of game files in steam.

Good luck guys and I'm sure I'll be back on these forums in no time with some other new issue...

I have the exact problem press play nothing happens on steam or it gets stuck it'll be in task manager but the game will never watch and if I press play on steam on the Rockstar launcher the play button will gray out then a few seconds it on gray's out I did the exact thing that you did but the only error I get when I close social club with task manager isn't error from red Dead redemption 2 to verify my game files that I press play again Rockstar social club sign in and opens and then it's in that stuck face again where the game won't launch but it says it's running verify the files does nothing have everything updated on my computer does nothing reinstalled the whole game again does nothing
