RDR2 online. Injured wolf.

So i was normally playing today and while i was passing close to Cattail Pond a white dot appeared on the map. When I get closer I notice it was a injured wolf, the wolf had a arrow stuck in his back. Then he fell to the ground and it turned into a red paw. I get close to it and see if i had any interaction with it since it keeps appearing also as a white dot in the map. But there was nothing I could do. After a while the wolf died due to the bleeding and my honor went down. Can someone tell me what am I supposed to do if I find this wolf to not lose honor? Also when the wolf died a message pop out saying that I could collect an arrow head from the wolf. But still I dont want my honor to go down. Can someone please explain me?

Kill the wolf and put him out of his misery. You will receive a collectible arrowhead and positive honor.

you get good honor for showing mercy and putting the suffering animal out of it's misery. I'm guessing you didnt grow up in the country? ;)
