It feels to large at times. But fasttravel fixes it.
RDR2's map is bigger that GTA V. It is the biggest map to date they have made.
Bro you are so very wrong. RDR2's map is bigger than GTA 5.
https://www.newsweek.com/red-dead-2-rdr2-map-size-vs-gta-5-v-1190240
According to the map size on google it says 75KM for RDR2 and 127KM for GTA V (Including Water)
Unless R* really says anything and we know the exact measures its still up in the air. Both maps are very large with plenty to do though.
Regardless if the RDR2 map is larger or smaller it IS for me, more packed with content. Specially since you have to travel at horse back, what surprises me is the amount of content, random events, wild life, stranger's quests, named places to explore with some lore into them. Good stuff.
No one cares about the water, landmass is what counts and RDR2 has more.
What in GTA5O water counts there are many missions that are water based. Its about total map size PERIOD. Red dead could have used the waters more IF they wanted too.
The stupid land set up in rdr2 where they make sure you can't make short cuts because your horse says no, so you have to ride around in zig zag just to go a short distance is annoying as hell.
Edit - On second thought, let me elaborate why I love this game's map. It was created with such a detail that you scarcely needs a mini map. I'm able to find most way, just by finding a higher up position and compare landmarks, and from up there track main paths and shortcuts with ease.
