Random camps
In Online play, is it common for your camp to randomly relocate? My camp is literally in a different location each time I start the game.

This evening, I dont have a camp and on my wheel when I bring it up to set one there is no choice to set camp its just darkened out. Making it hard to eat those last two camp stews!

Yep! If you change server, same thing... I really want to have the possibility to settle down in a house or a shake in the wood. A place that you can remake over or furniture as you want. Would be fun.

It will sometimes show on the map, but when you go there its empty. Nothing around.

Even if the camp doesn't disappear (though it is still shown on the map) it can change locations. You can try to keep it in the same place by calling for it to be set up again but that is no guarantee that it will be in the same spot, only in the same region and I believe each region has two or three possible locations.

It is a shame you can't make a spot permanent because that's a great way to learn the surrounding territory quickly as you get the same supply point assignments from Cripps. I wish there were a way to skip Cripp's dialog though!

Yes, it's common and very annoying having Cripps move your camp for no reason.
This is the reason whenever I see the white flag down in someone else's camp..Cripps dies!

White flag up means players can't attack your camp. White flag down means they can. As far as I know they can't do any permanent damage. Cripps can be killed, dog can probably be killed, (if you have one), and structures can be burned. They can't steal any of your trader goods or anything like that. Cripps can be revived if you are there when he dies or he respawns on his own. I imagine doggo comes back too.

I also have this problem. I could understand if the camp relocates to a different spot in the same region, but my camp now always ends up in Grizzlies (and then it changes location within this region). No idea why. Is this some kind of bug?

If you chose let's say Heartlands, your camp will still be in Heartlands, but there are different locations. For me it would be best somewhere close to my moon shack, but yeah, it's relocating, and it's not a bug.

I've noticed since the update that brought The Naturalist that my camp 1) no longer disappears and 2) can relocate but always to another site within the same region. This has placed my camp at different points but all of them near Blackwater.

I was thinking about it and came with possible explanation for this issue. When a player joins a session his camp must be placed somewhere. But other players in the sesions also have their camps and I'd assume that each region has a limited number of spots (camps are not placed randomly on the map but in predetermined locations in this region). So if I join and my last spot is taken - it relocates to a different spot. Now, if all spots are taken - like I'd assume is possible in popular regions like Great Plains / Blackwater - the game relocates the camp of the player joining the session to a different region. Unfortunatelly I don't understand why it's not the closest region in such case (my camp was moved from Blackwater to Grizzlies several times).

That's just a theory.
