How to get honor quickly?
I learned that greeting people gives you honor, but obviously that little, that it almost doesn`t count.

Does anyone here know, how many honor points you get by greeting people?

Is there any other method to get quickly many honor points?
I`d like to know other means then missions.

The basis: every time your Honor Ranking goes up or down you’ll receive an in-game notification and a note if there’s a significant change. The Honor Ranking is a scale from -8 to +8, with 0 as neutral. Not every rank gives you bonuses, but be aware that if you’re Honor Rank -6 you’ve got a long way to go before you can get back in people’s good books.

Here’s what changes as you move up or down the Honor Rank scale:

Honor 7: 50% price discount in all shops.
Honor 6: unlocks the final set of outfits to buy in stores; the Deuville, the Drifter, the Dewberry Creek, the Farrier, the Faulkton, and the Gambler.
Honor 5: 25% off at all stores in the game.
Honor 3: unlock new outfits: the Bulldogger, the Chevalier, the Corson, the Cumberland, the Cowpuncher, the McLaughlin, the Roscoe, and the Valentine.
Honor 2: discount at shops is 10% off.
Honor 1: When you loot bodies the drop rate is improved so you’ll find more tonics, jewelry and food.
Honor -1: When you loot dead bodies the drop rate is increased for the following items; Dead-Eye tonic, thrown weapons, alcohol and tobacco. There’s also a chance of more money and jewelry from dead lawmen.

How to increase or decrease your Honor Rank

Small to Medium Honor Gains:

Sparing, or otherwise not killing, captured foes if given the chance to personally decide their fate
Donating to the camp's tithing box
Donating provisions to Pearson
Completing gang member item requests
Greeting random people positively
Completing chores at camp (black points in camp map)
Assisting townsfolk in need (e.g., killing rats in town, etc.)
Antagonizing perverts in Valentine random encounters
Helping good people
Complying to free shop item requests of people whose lives you saved earlier (bear trap, snake bite, an overdose of oleander sage, etc.)
Donating to poor people (in one variant of a related random encounter, a person pretending to be a blind beggar but is actually a conman, can be donated to initially and then "looted", with no deduction to honor)
Surrendering to lawmen while being pursued
Paying off bounties
Helping people attacked by local gang members, criminals or wild animals (may occasionally result in a major boost in Honor)
Refusing duels
Disarming duelists
Intervening in conflicts in towns
Returning caught fish to the water

(BEWARE OF SPOILERS)
Rushing the wounded murderer to Dr. Barnes in Saint Denis during one random encounter
Completing "American Dreams" by saving the Valentine Sheriff and killing the serial killer
Completing "No Good Deed"
Completing "The Iniquities of History"
Completing "The Wisdom of the Elders"
Helping Charlotte Balfour during "The Widow of Willard's Rest"
Giving four of each requested flower (yarrow, sage, wild feverfew, currant) to William during "To the Ends of the Earth"
Turning in the Killer Prostitute
Allowing Mark Johnson to say goodbye to his family during one Bounty Hunting mission (doing so can allow his son Billy to send in his gang members, though, so be sure to dispatch them while on your way back to Rhodes)
Returning the man's horse after "Polite Society, Valentine Style" (returning the man's horse by first calming it and leading it, as opposed to riding it or merely dragging the creature by the lasso, offers the superior honor boon)
Making friends with Mickey in Valentine and giving him a hug
Giving the captured slaves money during "Help a Brother Out"
Agreeing to help Mary find her father during "Fatherhood and Other Dreams"
Buying Mary's family brooch from Ashton during "Fatherhood and Other Dreams"

Sparing Jean Marc at the end of the mission "Idealism and Pragmatism for Beginners"
Allowing the Chelonians to let Arthur talk to Jamie Gillis peacefully
Antagonizing the KKK members in random encounters
Going with John Marston during the mission "Red Dead Redemption"

Major Honor Gains: (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Saving Jimmy Brooks during the mission "Polite Society, Valentine Style"
Giving the health cure to Sampson Black and Wendell White during "The Ties That Bind Us"
Completing "Money Lending and Other Sins VII"
During "Money Lending and Other Sins VI", absolving both of the debts and also giving the widow money for the second one
Completing "Do Not Seek Absolution I" and "II"
Agreeing to help both Rains Fall and Captain Monroe
Telling Brother Dorkins to give the change to the poor
Donating food or money to Sister Calderón during "Of Men and Angels"
Agreeing to help Mary during "We Loved Once and True"
Taking Buell, Hamish Sinclair's horse, after "The Veteran"
Deciding to help Sadie Adler in "Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow"
Visiting Rains Fall in the epilogue

Taking too long to save people from getting killed
Antagonizing fellow gang members
Being absent from camp for more than three days before returning
Looting the corpses of people who were deceased prior to the player's arrival

Spying on women in Valentine
Killing fish with dynamite
Excessive, consecutive kills of an animal of the same species
Not skinning an animal after killing it
Wounding an animal and letting it suffer
Killing a horse

Killing the first of the twenty-five parakeets
Animal Cruelty to local town animals

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

Killing the Feral Man's wolves
Helping the Killer Prostitute in Valentine
Shooting the bell of the Tiny Church
Refusing to donate to Brother Dorkins
Killing Ashton in "Fatherhood and Other Dreams"
Killing Jean Marc at the end of the mission "Idealism and Pragmatism for Beginners"
Looting Professor Bell's corpse after "The Mercies of Knowledge"
Going back for the money in the mission "Red Dead Redemption"

Major Honor Losses:

Murdering people
Killing or otherwise harming NPCs in the aftermath of helping them in a random encounter

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

Refusing to save Lenny in the mission "Who the Hell is Leviticus Cornwall?"
Refusing to help Rains Fall and Captain Monroe
Refusing to help Sadie Adler in "Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow"
Killing Jimmy Brooks during "Polite Society Valentine Style"
Killing Milliken during "Visiting Hours"
Killing the bounty hunter during "Magicians for Sport"
Failing to disarm the bear trap in the random encounter with the hunter

Addition benefits of honorable actions

Helping people in their hour of need can have unforeseen benefits past the increase to your Honor Rank. For instance, if you help someone that’s been bitten by a snake on the side of the road by sucking the venom out, then if you see them again in town they might call you over. If this happens, you can get great rewards like a free item of your choice from the local gunsmith. And yes, that means anything from a box of ammo to a Rolling Block rifle.

Lots of time as your are riding around you get little white blimps for strangers. Lots of those will increase you honor....depending on how you handle them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The quickest way is story missions.
There are also lots of little ways...horse care, throwing back small fish, every three animals skinned you get resourceful which gives honor, helping strangers, (not the missions, the white blips) and letting the leader go free in hideouts. Those are just some of ways I can think of at the moment.
Oh....I forgot you can go see Old Man Jones and pay to have your honor changed for 3 gold bars.

Edit: Forgot to ask if you were asking about single player or online. My tips are for online.

Yes.
Take a look at this: https://rdr2map.com/
Click on HIDE ALL, then scroll down to EVENTS and click on STRANGER and RANDOM EVENT. You will see all random missions. Most of them depends on in-game time.

I use an inlay version of this and oh boah, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing all this game can offer. There's a GTA V version too.
