Stealth takedowns?

In my cluebook is written, that there are stealth takedowns. I`m playing with mouse and keyboard. How do I perform those?

I have to go on with my question.
In the said german cluebook is written, that a stealth attack without weapon will not kill the opponent but turn him unconscious.
Tried it out 2 times, my victims died all.

I did so. Enemy was killed. I wanted him taken down alive.

Try an attack holding your lasso. You will hogtie them instead of killing them.

Throwing knives work too when they're looking not looking in your direction.

Option 1: Kill the bastard: When CROUCHED, sneak up on enemies from behind and press F to knock them out while unarmed (select fist as weapon), or, if you have a knife equipped, perform a stealth kill. U can use tomahawks or throwing kives or even bow to kill em as you may know. I think you can knock em with the revolver but did not try it yet. I just kill the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and go.

Option 2: Spare his life: crouch, use lasso and then hogtie'em. Beware of nearby peeps cuz the guy gonna shout. You can slice him after that if u want.

Anyway, Arthur / John are outlaws. They kill people so why bother? Honor losses? Regain it later by greeting folks. And if you don't want to lose honor, just hide and go pass through them from behind. Pretty Harder but hey being the Good instead of the Bad is so risky.

They dont die. Its just the screen effect that happens, if you shoot them it will kill them.

As Sewer said too, it's just the screen flash might make you think you killed them, but if you aim your gun at their body, it should turn red meaning that they are still alive, otherwise, the gray reticule means dead.

But I got negaitve honor by attacking with bare hands AND: the button for the takedown prompted says: Kill enemy.
