Did you borrow it should be a marker on the map to the person you borrowed it from he's looking for you? You may just lose a little reputation if you cant find him. Not back from where you got the horse from?

Try and sell it at the horse Trader in Valentine or see if you can store it just ride it in.
As it has no certification it's worth very little maybe just store it and when your richer buy some gear for it like a saddle then sell.

Ride the horse, build trust and then sell it to the dealer in Valentine. That brings good profit. Buying a saddle is not necessary.

Alright. Seems like a silly way to implement a saving/loading system. The time stays the same but the world resets causing in progress events to stop working.
