Attacked with Gatling Gun?

I was riding in defensive mode north out of Strawberry when I heard machine gun fire. Then suddenly a wagon with a gatling mounted on it, accompanied by a posse, comes charging towards me down the road. I am fired upon and knocked off my horse but survive. I get up and manage to get in 3 or 4 sniper shots before they are gone, killing one off their horses. As a result, my 'hostilty' is increased. Two guys come after me and I take one of them out, and the other's horse, and my then hostilty goes to max.

Why am I the bad guy? And wtf were they doing with that gun?

You see that was bounty target for other player. You killed them and messed with other guy quest, so your hostility has increased. Also that was not gatling - maxim machinegun.

To be honest I didn't get chance to see the gun, because they were bullets at me with it. I was in defensive mode.

Its rather easy to get one.
You need to start a bounty quests and sometimes your target will be in a convoy with 1 weaponized wagon. When you kill all of them you can basically take it for yourself.

Yesterday we done that and then just grinded other bounties using it. :D
