Why would anyone buy a bandolier?

They are cool don't get me wrong but in this game they either clip through or leave huge gaps between you, your clothes and the body which looks weird like they made of cardboard. It completely ruins how cool they look. And ofc they don't add any utility too

And yet they cost 300 and there is one for 19 gold bars right now

I don't know about the others but after a certain milestone in the game, you have purchased everything that interested you and it's just another thing to spend money on just because you can have it equipped. It does however look good on some body types, but it looks absolutely terrible on lean and female body types.
Rockstar should really address the bandolier and belt clippings in the game.

Yeah, I spent 300 on one when I was a low level with little money. I thought It would give me more bullet storage. Boy was I pissed when I found out it was cosmetic.

the research is misleading, since bandoliers do indeed give certain bonuses to ammo capacity in single-player

The bandolier should increase amount of ammunition carried and/or make rifle/repeater loading faster - then it would be worth something.
