Bug - John's Proposal - Spoiler Alert

[Gray Matter Guerrilla]

(Late game)
I row to the designated spot to ask Abigail to marry him, but John Marston just sits there in the boat. No cut scene, no dialogue option - they just sit there....I cannot progress any further. I can't row anywhere. Can't do anything (not even exit the boat).

I've tried this mission twice now.

Help?

Ok, figured it out. If you experience this problem, try button-mashing your weapon binds (1, 2, 3) + right-clicking the mouse button while facing Abigail. This brings up the dialogue option, but it's buggy (doesn't stay up). Once you see it, start tapping the corresponding key (R?) to initiate cut scene.

I use a keyboard/mouse - unsure about controller.

Leaving this up in case someone else runs into this bug.

No, I didn't find any other solution - only the button mashing I described above. I haven't done a 2nd play through to try anything else though, so it's very possible something else will work.

IIRC, it took me a minute or 2 of 'button mashing' before the timing was perfect. But if you've tried that for a while and it's still not working, then I'm not sure what else to suggest.

If you figure it out, post here. I'm guessing it's a rare bug since no one else has commented. :/

Edit: going to a previous save and retrying the mission may work? Try that as a last resort.

*I MANAGED TO GET AROUND IT*

The glitch happened to me and restarting the mission didn't help. I tried the button mashing but that wasn't working. Oddly, switching to first person view helped.

What finally worked was going to 1st person view, pulling out gun (shortcut: 1), right-clicking (this selects Abigail), Holstering gun (other shortcut: 4). The "R" button to propose now appeared.

You might have solved this issue by now, but if you haven't - I found a fix!
Plugging in an Xbox controller and using that for this scene worked for me.
The issue might be with having an access to one, though...

I solved it with rockstar employee who tell me to leave the mission for
a few times, then i had a skip option, that perfectly pull me over the bug

I cant use controllers I only have one working hand

this is happening all over again to me(another play through) and verifying game files ins't working this time
