What is the point of Cigarettes in this game?

Hey guys, does anyone actually use these or do you just discard all? I see no real benefit to using them.

As far as I can tell, all tobacco related products restore/buff dead eye.

It recharges dead eye, like the others say. Its self explanatory ;-). If your dead eye runs out during battle, smoke a cigarette, or better yet, a cigar, and then you can use your dead eye again.

I personally smoke cigarette after eating, or while watching the sunset, or at a campfire, just because...well its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ western ! ;)

Not quite, but close. There are 2 types of cigarettes: regular and premium. Every pack of premium smokes come with the collectible card - so always make sure your premium cig inventory isn't maxed or you won't be able to pick up the pack and get the card.

I was under the impression that any pack that you picked up or bought would automatically transfer the card if one was in the pack, to your collection.
Are you saying that I would have to keep selecting my cigarette pack and smoking every cigarette in the pack before it will disappear from my Items list.

The dead eye bonus is more easily provided by simply eating food, or better yet, drinking a pot or chewing some gum.

Thus, as you can see from the other replies, it's actually not much more than a gimmick.

The Premium Pack has a Trading Card - one from a number of different sets.

And, oh by the way (the Gimmick), completing at least 1 Set is required for 100% game completion.
