you can manually save games in the story section of the pause menu, it might be worth turning of the autosave feature for additional piece of mind and also remember that you must now save your games manually before exiting to desktop...
also ensure you dont overwrtie each others data, there is enough slots to save many different games but you have to remember which is whos file yourself
you also start a new game from the story option in the pause menu...
Sadly you cannot load it appears from the main menu, so say you was playing last, your dad would have to load up your storydata first, then hit esc and select story>load to return to his game world
