how to walk in first person view?
i know it is possible to walk in first person view because if i switch camera view while holding movement it will stay walking

but if im standing still while in first person, it auto sprints

is there a hidden button fuction or something im overlooking in the options menu to "default walk" while in first person or just simply WALK?

i simply prefer to walk when i want and sprint when i want.

yeah noticed this on console aswell, walking speed in first person seems like running, maybe cuz of perspective?

The FOV in first person is way too zoomed in and it feels like you bump into more objects then you should.

And to add to the comment about 1st person being too zoomed in: when you look down the ground loses detail. The rocks, soil, floors are all slightly blurry. And sometimes the whole view isn't as sharp and vivid as in 3rd person. Have to go in 3rd person to get it sharp looking when looking straight down or even overall. And that's with all settings at max ultra.

Added: But since I love first person view I found a trainer that makes your character invisible. So I can go in 3rd person and have all the detail in the graphics and not have the character blocking the view. It's in the Miscellaneous (Misc) section of this trainer on the Nexus site -

https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/45

It requires you to install a native trainer too and it shows you how, so it's kind of a hassle to install but worth it. In third person without seeing your character the movement is a little awkward so get ready to adjust to that.

no im just talking about the "default" sprint while in first person.

in the options menu, under controls, mouse and keyboard, tucked away hidden at the bottom... *inhale*... you will find something ambiguously called "tap assist"

turning this on will default to WALKING speed while in first person.
however.... disables/prevents the use of button to sprint.

i dont want to triple tap.
i dont want to double tap.

i want to hold forward to walk.
i want to hold forward and hold/tap shift to sprint.

i dont want to double/triple tap forward.

TL DR : all i want is to walk... and then i want to press shift to sprint and run.
but i still prefer to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WALK while in first person and will TOLERATE the handicap "tapping"

That is the same like in GTA V, the first person WALKING ist faster then the third person ome, and you can sprint additionsly...

Yeah I'm with you on that...screw the tapping. Not to mention, I could accidentally double tap a key and fly off a damn mountain or something. On top of that, practically 95% of games use shift as the run/sprint key by default. Well, PC games anyway.

My TL;DR: If shift isn't run, and control isn't crouch...you're probably playing a port.

Tap shift when in first person to walk. Hold for a moment to sprint. Its literally the opposite of when in third person. I googled this to walk, and then i went back in game and accidently tapped shift. . . ♥♥♥♥ my life.

First person view doesn't feel right in this style game, third person with a bigger field of view just feels better

Thank you!! I am willing to deal with the tapping because the "run-by-default" first person goes against every fps ever made and ruins the experience. I should get use to it. Btw idk what "Tap Assist" does but "Tap and Hold Speed Control (On-Foot)" is what you want to turn on to walk by default in first person. "Tap Assist" doesnt seem to affect anything.

If you tap shift once while in first person it'll put you into a walk but if you hit it again while walking you'll jog again. :D
