Have to unplug joystick everytime I launch the game?
Seems like this is the only way I can get the game to launch, and then plug my controller in after. I have an Xbox one controller. Is there a fix for this so that I don't have to unplug my controller each and every time I launch the game?

Yes, i have the same problem, can't belivet !
You don't have to disconnect your controller. The game has an issue with the Steam controller API.

Right click on the game in your Steam library, select "Properties", "Steam input per game" and set it to "forced off". Also, while you're at it, deactivate Steam overlay for RDR2 as well which sometimes causes issues too. Who needs the crap anyway unless you want to see the FPS overlay. The controller will still work since it uses the Microsoft DirectX controller API and the game won't crash anymore at startup. Hopefully anyway

Thanks for the tip, but how do you deactivate the steam overlay for rdr2?

Hey, you can do it by right clicking on RDR2 in your library > Properties > General, and you will see the check box to disable it. :steamhappy:

I think the new update has created this issue, i have been playing the game over 2 weeks and now this issue happens to me since yesterday.
