Launches for a second and then immediately crashes. Drivers are all updated.
The root of this is because people using pirated copies of windows did not update their system to spring's 1903 Build with Media Feature Pack. It's an issue experienced from buying a 'license' from some local computer shop to activate their copy too. It's not Rockstar or Microsoft's fault and will be an ongoing issue going forward to people because of the software licensing DRM implemented at an OS level with Denuvo over with.
Update your Windows (not updater but from their website) .. or continue granting app god privileges... or.. be like that dude making meme's showing everyone how ignorant they are.
Does this also work on Windows 10 Pro? I get an error when trying to install it...
Yes. As I had the same issue. Tried a dozen times using Win 10 Pro 1810 (scene release). After each attempt to install the 1903 spring update it would stop with a light blue screen after bios saying Error :( and reverted the update. It's new OS level DRM. I even see many threads around the Oculus Rift store relying on this copy protection for their titles. It's the future. Just google it, Windows 10 1903. it's all about educational and business license permissions. People who seem to be hit most by not able to doing the update are those with old pirated windows releases and OEM actiavted (which could be shady activation who knows).
Googling it I found technie forum posts talking about brute force repairing the system so it could sucessfully install Spring Update. There is a tom of threads on the issue including Tom's Hardware. At this point I already wasted a week and a half not playing the game, unwilling to leave my system on a 10 hour batch repair... So instead... I downloaded Win 10 Pro N iso directly from Microsoft and activated my copy... and been enjoying RDR2 Online so much these past 3 weeks. Just do it, dont wait on some company to come up with a magic patch its not going to happen, even refer to GTAForums on the matter.
THIS IS WHAT SOLVED MY ISSUE:
