Error - RDR2 exited unexpectedly
Hello,

Does anyone have this issue ? https://imgur.com/a/FqnMh9i

When I launch the game through steam, I have the R logo appearing from the Rockstar launcher and then after 15 seconds or so I have this error message blinking extremely fast and then the launcher close.

I have the Nvidia UI showing like it usually does when I launch a game but here I wasn't in the game at all. I have 0 issue with all the games I play.

This is beyond unacceptable, how is a MULTI BILLION COMPANY not able to QA the fact that we don't even OWN the game on their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ store?

Why is this still a thing in almost 2020.
you still dont get it.

you are the QA

I’ve had about 20% success in disabling antivirus. It’s hit or miss. I’ve also had success with a full restart and fresh launch of the game once or twice. Testing multiple methods to see if I can reproduce some good results.

My warning to you guys is this. If you get in game, DO NOT open the steam overlay. It’ll be stuck and not go away.

IF you so happen to run into that, Control+Shift+ESC and close the overlay is the only way without restarting the game.

Also, if you try to buy gold, it’ll open up your steam overlay for the steam wallet, again, locking it up.

So just be careful. It’s buggy. But when it runs, it’s a fantastic game and performance is amazing for me on 9900k and 2080 standard.

Same here, Game doesn´t start. Maybe we have to wait for a Patch or something... :pamutease:

Okay, not saying this will help, but I’ve had a 3 out of 3 success rate with restarting PC and freshly launching the game.

Just FYI.

I got it to launch and everything is fine now I just had to open the rock star game launcher before launching the game from steam, else it looks like the R* launcher was crashing and it wasn't able to link the game to my account.

Best of luck to ya'll

i found switching my graphics api to directx before leaving the main menu and then let your game load into your save or new game then switch the api back to Vulkan and close the game and that fixed it for me I can boot with no problem now

I have the latest Nvidia drivers, the latest w10 update, I just did a "verify files integrity" and apparently 3 files were damaged or something so steam is fixing this so I will tell you if that worked as soon as it is done

Same issue here. They made us wait a month and the game won't even start? ♥♥♥♥ off Rockstar, I'm refunding this. You're one of the biggest game studios in the world and can't even make the game start? No excuse for this level of incompetency.

I went through an hour long chat with support on this. no fix but there's been several reports of this. unfortunately, my ticket has been logged and has been pushed to email support.

Over the past month with myself and talking with friends who this occurred. Typically when a crash would happen would be a spike transition. Like an abrupt gun fight a friend always seems to get booted. It most likely is Nvidia Control Panel settings.

Myself, I dont crash. Obvious culprets being Multisampling. Disable that. Use common sense with ingame and nvidia settings. CPU is still going to be a bottleneck. Even with the 18 year old game, World of Warcraft. Sudden spikes of particles can leave people with a game crash. Thats where Multisampling will stress your system out especially if you are baking in the glory of a hazy foggy area and OOPS.. crash.

Don't overstress your system, use Nvidia Geforce Optimizer as a guide and tweak up intelligently. It's a a gorgeous game even on low settings.
