Audio crackling
I noticed that the audio seems to crackle sometimes. This was most noticeable during the opening cutscene when starting story mode, but also sometimes when people are talking. Anyone have any idea why this happens?

I use Logitech G560 speakers.
Same thing happens in COD WW2.

This sounds like what I get. It happens in game and in cut scenes. I have not noticed it in menus. Im running Win11, RTX 3080 and a 5800X. Also using a Corsair Void RGB Elite headset.

*EDIT* I forgot to mention that mine sounds a LOT worse than this. it seems to crackle at the same points. But it's way more intense sounding, and seems to last just a margin longer.

its the audio hardware sample rate issue. I have the JBL Quantum One which only has 24 bit 48k hz option, but then i changed to a few other of my headphones and speakers it works fine. So now whenever i play RDR2 i had to change to my JBL Club One headphone because with that i can change the sample rate to 16 bit 48k hz in the advance audio setting. Note that some audio hardware has different sample rate.

I also have the JBL Quantumn One and the sample rate is greyed out. Is there no way to change it? (interestingly my Quantumn one is stuck at 16 bit 48k hz)

This audio issue is very strange, I had no issues in game until recently. I just found now disabling the speakers or headphones you are using and re-enabling seems to do the trick but it is very annoying and I'd like a permanent fix from Rockstar Game please.

Buying a new headset was the only "solution" for me.

was its a wireless head set .if it was then it like replacing your sound card ..a Game like this should be compatible with the most basic of equipment especially after a number of years

I fixed this issue by performing the following steps:
1. Updating my Audio Interface driver (there was a new version)
2. Opening my Audio Interface Settings (Focusrite Device Settings) and setting the Sample Rate to 41000 and the Buffer Size to 192
3. I also unchecked "Safe Mode" in my audio interface settings (Focusrite Device Settings)

No more crackling

but why you need to lower you quality on studio grade gear so much on a game just blows my mind .where much more demanding games have no problem

I have the same interface as you, the first 2 steps worked, thank you. The third one I left the safe mode on and it still worked correctly. I was on 48000 sample rate before and it was crackling, going on 44100 is the best (and in fact that's what is by default anyway). If you have Voicemeeter its settings will be automatically adjusted.
