"Requires 3rd-Party Account: Rockstar Games Social Club"
Hahahaha nice try Stalin, I won't be buying this spyware-riddled garbage. Too bad, was looking forward to it but not when it means giving all my data to the Chinese!

(did I do this right? I see it in every other forum so I figured I'd give it a go)

Gta 5 didn’t require to download the rockstar launcher when it came out. It just had a social club check and thats it. This rockstar launcher thing came out a couple of months ago and brought many problems to the steam version of gta.

When gta came out on steam it used basicly the same thing.

Not sure what your on about when you dont want this because of reasons you say in the 1st post but also have gta5....

Did you read what i just said? I said gta v didnt have a launcher just a drm check. Now it requires to download a launcher in the background like uplay. When i bought gta there was no such thing and i didnt know there would.

have you verified that it uses the rockstar launcher? it only specifies having a social club account. if you verified and saw it mentioned that it requires the launcer could you share where you got that info from? ive been looking to identify a source for this.

edit, have found the disclaimer on the bottom of the steam page. hidden under a section that requires it be expanded.

Yes it does, last time i opened it launched the launcher and had to open the game from there. Also if you go to the gta discussion you can already find people complaining about the launcher not allowing to open the game and other errors. Although its not mentioned on the store page its still there.

additional edit: my posts are referring to read dead redemption 2. my apologies for the confusion. /edit

gotcha, my original post was if it was bought on steam, if youre able to open it it was probably not from steam.

either way, i found the disclaimer on the store page and sadly even if you buy from steam it still requires the rockstar launcher like uplay does. was hoping to avoid installing another launcher. just a personal preference.

You're too paranoid. Plus who cares if they do

Chinese? Is Take Two owned by the Chinese?
Aren't you thinking about Epic who is owned by Tencent (which is Chinese)?

well their loss, i no longer buy games that require other launchers, if i buy from steam it has to work trough only steam period!

dragon age inquisition was first and last, i haven't even installed it in my new rig cause origin no longer functions and i heard there are issues with EA launcher to, ea cant get their SH together

steam should create a support option, when u add ur logged in and add ur EA log in for example data u can transfer ur game with all dlc's to steam without requiring ea launcher, like u cant buy dlc's for the game u need ea site for it but if u buy there the info transfers over and u can still play the main game with dlc's trough steam, sins u don't need the launcher to buy, u can also buy from ea site, this way steam helps players who don't want multiple launchers without stepping on the game corporations (in this case EA) toes, this can be done with all games on steam

but also Rockstar and other corps could do system like Microsoft did with state of decay 2, in game log in once and ur permanently in if they are worried
