Too many damn keys to hit any easy way to play this game?

I've been gaming for 35 years and I have NEVER seen a game which requires basically the ENTIRE keyboard to play.... this is not fun. Anyone have any suggestions to lesson the keys to play this game really wanted to play it was so discouraged when I realized I have to map out the entire keyboard? Thanks for any suggestions. By the way I got it on Rockstars website just much easier to ask here.

yes the controls are just dumb want to pick an item up

nobody knows, everybody has to look lower right of screen to find out, its a true game of finger twister in a confined space and yes its outragoues and annoying, by far the worse controls in about the same amount of years as a gamer for me too.

I generally HATE using controllers, but I think for this one, it'll be near-mandatory.

I'm shocked ... I've played all the Batman games and none of them are like this nor was Max Payne. What in the world happened to the developers?

you have to just keep pushing forward wowcho56, it starts getting less prevalent as you start adjusting, you can try a controller if ya have one,

but because there are so many functions with a controllers limitations each button suddenly has several functions so at the start with a controller your going to strangle people accidentally, and shoot folks by accident, etc...

and you will still have to check lower right all the time when picking up items

Besides from the inconsistency of controls to pick up items, this game seems to be especially complicated to use with Keyboard and Mouse.

e.g. feeding the horse while on horseback you have to:

Hold Tab, Press R two times, hover item category with mouse, press Q & E to select the item, Release Tab Key. Use WASD at the same time to control the horse without crashing into something. It's really difficult to do this without breaking fingers.

The most annoying thing in my opinion is the lack of mouse wheel support in the weapons/item wheel. It would be much easier if I could use my mouse wheel instead of pressing Q & E to scroll through the items.

i gave up feeding them, i just pay for the full horse care package as i pass through a town if required, beyond that on those mission whne you have to chase something down its a case of tab R-R-R select stimulant to maintain stanima, and yes agree with mouse wheel,

plus you have to deal with a view in first person of only the horses head if feeding on horseback.. and just riding them is a pain at first, the tutorial basically gives this impression...

press W, mash W, hold W
hold L-shift, tap L-shift, mash L-shift
double tap L-shift, triple tap L-shift
double tap and hold L-shift, triple tap and hold-Lshift
press L-ctrl, hold L-ctrl, Double tap L-ctrl

in the end i just hold W or hold L-shift, and i got use to releasing the keys instead of trying to use the brake to slow down, because that always brings a dead stop when i just wanted a slow down. but in a ambush i dont have the immediate muscle memory for the brake any longer so in those cases its a tad haywire until i remember the brake

I think I would need at least two additional fingers on my left hand to play this game comfortable with Keyboard and Mouse :D

The game was built from consoles which is basically inferior in design. How could you screw up porting from an inferior design to make keys redundant.

see i just cant use a controller for shooting, i mean you can like in both RDR2/GTA switch to controller drive horse/car back to keyboard but in red dead its not the same experience and you in both games shoot whilst driving, and so it becomes a hassle and you end up sticking to what your best at in my case it has to be shooting with K/M
