Already have Ultimate Edition key...
...but, I would like to own this on Steam. If I purchase just the regular edition on steam and then use my ultimate edition key in rockstar social club, would I have essentially the same thing as if I bough Ultimate Edition on Steam?

also, I haven't used the key, yet, would the order in which I do things matter?

Not sure if this will work since for example to other companies like Ubisoft you cant own a season pass on steam and main game on their platform or reverse and Rockstar might work same..not sure but i suggest you go ask them via love chat.. They will tell you for sure 100 %

Pretty sure this won't work.
The different editions are handled as separate games.

When you buy it on Steam, you will need to connect it to a Social Club account permanently.
No more option to add another key.

Right, so what if I already have ultimate unlocked through rockstar and then just purchase regular steam version on top of that?

well pretty sure then your launcher will bind you 2 RDR games ...how lon you bought it on Rockstar ?! ..maybe you can still refund to rockstar ...

Nope, accidentally bought the ulty key (from a legit source) and realized instantly that it was the Rockstar launcher. Asked for a refund, but was denied; it is what it is. I really wanted this on steam, so I'm trying to see if I can just buy the regular version here and maintain my ultimate bonuses.

I did the same thing but managed to scoop up an ultimate key on GMG for $50 on sale. Personally not worth the $100 bucks you only get free story mode items and a few online items.

and dunno if you want that badly on steam buy it and uninstall rockstar launcher version and install just steam that why shouldnt cross each other
