Parley / Feud ?
I was wondering how many people actually know how that parley and feud system works, because then there actually would be a reason to randomly attack people in free-roam.

-----------------------
As far as I've understood this (and I'm sure I'm gonna be corrected in this discussion), it goes like this -

1.Two people meet in the free-roam world.

2.One decides to kill the other one.

3.The killed player can "press charges" now. ( NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS FOR THE GAME )

4.If the "killer" keeps killing the "victim" 4 times in a row, in total, the "victim" can decide to "parley", or start a "feud".

5. "parley" forces a cease fire for 10 minutes for both parties. So "killer" and "victim" can't damage each other for 10 minutes, enough time to ride away, or the killer just doesn't want to wait around that long. Basically the "no thank, you." button.

6."feud", if both parties agree, initiates a 1vs1 duel between both players, with no other players able to interfere.
Apparently with a timer and score and everything, but I haven't tried that yet myself.
------------------

I'm not sure about the modes for that though, if this only starts when in defensive mode, or if that is just a general system for both modes.

I don't know what "press charges" does in this sort of mini-game system.

When I get attacked in defensive mode, I get that as a bit of protection, because I am not the aggressor, and I can kill back until the attacker goes back to defensive, so gives up, sort of?
If that's the case, then it's the victim's fault, if they don't "press charges" or "parley" or whatever.

And that seems to be the main problem of the game here.
I bet a lot of people don't really know about how this system works, they want to find somebody to have a duel with, but they only know the griefing kind of thing.

IS THERE AN ACTUAL DOCUMENT BY ROCKSTAR, LIKE A MANUAL, THAT EXPLAINS THIS SYSTEM?

Are we supposed to get all that information from the little pop-ups in game?

The person’s hostility and bounty goes up if you press charges against them.

This intresting topic. I wonder of how much people will have know about it like you do and explane how that realy works out, for them and for the game system itself.
I don't play RDRO yet, so it could be some nice info to understand for later when go see for myself. Is maby why some people only rage-quit when they get killed and just don't know this response for it?

Ah, thank you.
So, by how much goes the bounty up?

The only thing I know about that hostility thing is that it forces you into offensive mode, until you "calm down" and don't attack people for some time.
And it makes you more visible on the map, bigger radius.

Is there an actual guide for the whole system somewhere?
The only thing I can find is about the defensive mode, which seems more and more flawed, the longer I look at it.

don't need to kill/die 4 times in a row.... can parley &/or press charges after first kill (maybe not if you're red)

Yeah, I just tested this with somebody.

It actually opens up a play area if you accept the feud, you have a timer and scoreboard, and the winner gets a "Feuds won" for one of the competitive awards.

So, there is a reason to look for feuds.

Parlay is possibly the best option when dealing with aggressive players.

They can't hurt you and you can't hurt them either. BUT you can get in their way and block shots aimed at other players. You can bump into them with your horse (and knock them off edges). You can also crash into their horse as well.

Dynamite and explosive arrows will knock you (and dismount), but it will not hurt you. You can even get them to kill them self with their own explosives. And fire bottles. And toxic moonshine.

It helps to actually read the sources one posts beforehand, because there is nothing about online gameplay in this manual, except for mentioning some features.

That's why I asked if you have tried it.

I haven't read it entirely, thus I couldn't definitively say if the relevant info you seek is in there.
