No shotgun on my horse. Now what do I do?

I just started story mode. We are looking for someone and it tells me to go to my horse and get a shotgun. But there isn't one and now it won't let me proceed. How do I get this unstuck?

Did you get the shotgun from the barn in the first chapter

k+m?

Stand next to your horse (or on it) and press and hold TAB
Move mouse to one of the two saddle icons (left and bottom of wheel)
press Q/E to switch saddle to shotgun
keep mouse cursor over the now selected shotgun

let go of tab.

You should now have it.

No, it only told me to pick up my pistol.

I know how to look at my saddle inventory. But it is not there.

Yup, it's the horse I got from the barn at that first O'Driscall house in the beginning. There is no shotgun. It won't let me go back and get one.

The "shotgun" they're talking about look like a slightly big pistol, it doesn't look like what you'd expect.
And it's actually in your pistols wheel, not the " big guns " ( rifles, shotguns etc ) wheel. So go to your horse inventory and look at the section with your normal pistol in it, press R1/L1 it should be next to it.

Yeah but stay on your pistol and press R1/L1.
There is sections, like you said one with pistols, one with knife etc. You have to go to the pistol and stay on it and press R1 or L1 to change the pistol you want.

the sawed off shotgun, it's in the pistols. you will have this automatically.
